Thumbs up Spay and Neuter!

Of course! That is the #1 reason why there are so many cats and dogs in America because people don't spay and nueter! And even if you don't have enough $ for the vets, there is always the low cost spay and neuter.

Having your cocker spayed helps prevent unwanted litters of course but her chances of getting ovarian caner will be far less and you won't have to deal with the mess of your dog going into heat every yr. Plus, if she is spayed, she'll be less likey to try and escape to get pregnant.

I didn't say she would GET cancer! I have just read and heard that it is healther anyways regardless if there are males around or not to have them spayed. did you sue the people who killed your dog! That is horrible!

So why wouldn't you have your dog spayed?

Well, I see your point. My neighbors dog got hit by a car on Jan 4th and she jumps/climbs the fence and is spayed but that is because the owners don't give their dogs enough exercise.

I'm not going to get into the debate. I would just say that if you don't plan to breed, then the benefits of spaying outweigh the risks.

Mindi, great post! I agree, why not spay or neuter if you don't want to breed? The benefits outway the risks, and you don't have to deal with female messes or males wanting to roam!

I agree with Mindy and Poohbear. I have always had female dogs and besides not wanting to breed them I don't want the hassle of dealing with the evey 6 months cycle. Indoor females will dribble blood or you have to have them wear protective whatever you call them. LOL. And they get moody! My neighbor has an unspayed female and you know she's coming into her cycle at least 10 days before she actually does. She gets down right ornery.
