Default Cabin Fever

Hello! I have an adorable seven-month beagle mix (not sure what's in the mix, but he looks like a miniature -- he's twenty-six pounds -- Rhodesean Ridgeback with a little Pitbull in the face). Whatever he is, he's very active. I know this because if we fail to provide two hours of vigorous outdoor excercise every day, he expresses his disappointment by grabbing whatever we've been too tired from meeting his needs to put away and chewing it up. This is not all bad; Teddy has me in better shape than I've been in years. However, after five days of alternating ice storms, sleet, and drenching rain, "Destructo" has been expressing a lot of disappointment. Neither fetching soft toys down a ten-foot hallway nor working for his meals by rolling his Kong is making much of a dent. Does anyone have an indoor activity idea to share? You could help save our household. Thanks.

Beagle? It would not matter, what else, try hide and seek in the house. Or tracking stuff. Hide and seek, could be where am I? Once, I hid behind the door of the bathroom and called Rex, my GSD. He came in and looked in the toilet for me, didn't see me and left the room. I again, called him in, and he again, looked in the toilet, so of course, I busted out laughing. And he found me. At other times, he does like to sniff, so we would put treats in a tracking line and have him on leash, and track them. Or you could put 2 to 4 bowls or buckets on the floor, and ask him to find the one treat underneath. I will try to remember more, but our Rex is very nose oriented, and tracking works, look it up with google, you will get more ideas!!!

Default Thank you!

Poohbear, you gave me the best laugh of the day. Wouldn't you love to know the thought processes that led him to search for you in the toilet -- twice? Thanks for the excellent suggestions and for reminding me to focus on his beagle nature.
