Smile Newbie to the Dog Forum

Hello everyone,

I am thrilled I found a forum for dog lovers!

I just recently adopted a 6 month beagle from a rescue shelter. We are actually her third home - first home had very small children and the second crated her 10-12 hours per day and didn't understand why she was not housetrained!

We also have another rescue dog we adopted 5 years ago who is a mix - part basset hound, black lab and bluetick coonhound. He has a very unique look!

Prior to these two dogs we had another beagle that we rescued from a puppy mill when he was only 4 months old (he weighed only 7 pounds and had numerous treatable ailments) Best dog... and it was a sad day when we had to say good bye. He lived to the good age of 14 years old - the last two years he was blind but that nose kept working!

I do have a question. Our first beagle use to vomit bile periodically and the vet said that he just had a sensitive stomach. Well, beagle number two is doing the same thing. Is this a common characteristic of beagles? Has anyone else experience this? The rescue shelter did tell us they thought she had a sensitive stomach because of the vomiting. Our vet didn't think it was a problem. I am just curious what anyone else has to say.

Thanks!

Sometimes dogs who vomit bile, just have a sensetivity, sometimes changing food could be the answer. My JRT, didn't like the food I was feeding her, and she would vomit bile. I changed to Lamb and rice formula, same company of food, and she is much better now. Good Luck and welcome here!

I am thrilled that you adopt dogs from shelters, I cannot help with the beagle question, but you are a really neat person
