Did your vet say what the scratching and licking was from? I just ask because my dog was doing that a lot and it turned out she just had really dry skin, so we got oil pills from the vet to give her and it helped a lot.

I don't know a substitute for the potatoes, sorry. Did you try getting " dog gravy" for the potatoes, so he'll eat them? Hope your dog feels better soon.

My dog rocky Just went ot the vets yesterday, for excessive licking/itching. It started on sat and just got worse over the weekend. Come to find out my poor St. B. is allergic to saw dust. and ended up getting an infection for all his licking. he had a shot of antibiotics, and is on meds for the next 10 days. I hope your poor doggie makes out okay, and the itchies go away.

I also have the a bichon and its interesting because he seems to scratch and lick a lot. I know he does'nt have fleas because I took him to the vet and had him checked out. As for the licking, he'll lick anything from the couch to the table. I'll be taking him to the vet again next week and I'll see what they recommend for him and let you know to see if they give me different advise.
