Lightbulb I'm New And Would Love Your Advice

Hi, my name is Sonya, I live in New Zealand and have a female Chihuahua called Paris. She is just over 1 year old. I am thinking of adding another dog (possibly another Chihuahua or a Pomeranian/Papillion cross I have seen). Do you think 2 dogs together create mischief by encouraging each other, tearing around trampling over gardens etc? Do they teach each other bad habits? Do they still show the same affection for their owners or not once they have a fellow companion? I really want to make the best decision for the benefit of myself and Paris. I would appreciate any input

Thank you for your reply (I have never done this before!). I was thinking of adding a new puppy - yes, it really does seem a gamble! I will put more thought into it

I have 3 siberian huskies at the moment, they all get along just great, they are loving toward us, and they love to play chase, and ball together outside. We don't have any issues with them being terrors cuz there are 3. I had five 2 passed away in their old age. Plus I currently have 2 cats, I had 3 cats but one passed away due to illness. As long as you have toys for them, and they are both properly trained, and socialized you shouldn't have any problems. Sounds like Paris is already set in those areas, so I think if you decide to get the puppy you will all be happy.

Here are there pics of my sibes:

Mariya
Dog profile for Mariya { pronounced Mariah}, a female Siberian Husky

Jonah
Dog profile for Jonah, a male Siberian Husky

Luna
Dog profile for Luna, a female Siberian Husky

Hailey
Dog profile for Hailey {1993-2003}, a female Siberian Husky

Olympia
Dog profile for Olympia {In Loving Memory}, a female Siberian Husky

Here are the cats:

Simone
Cat profile for Simone, a female Snowshoe

Gracie
Cat profile for Gracie may, a female Chartreux

Desiree
Cat profile for Desiree {1994-2004}, a female American Shorthair

So you see multiples can get along, I say go for it. Good Luck!!

Red face Good luck with Paris

Hello Sonya , my experience tells me that having a chihuahua is like having an only child... and yours is so pampered that her name is Paris.

if you get another dog, she'll be laud and moody, but she will get over it (it could take a couple of months, less if you are lucky),

I believe that dogs together do learn from each other, the good and the bad habits, in the affection field (as in everything) you wont know until you try.

good luck and my best wishes

Make sure you get a male dog. male/female works well. If paris has bad habits train her before you bring in another dog.
