please help
ok, i'm new to this and have little to no idea what i'm doing or if i'm even reaching anyone but i have to try...
so here's the thing... i have a one year old "dog" who is half beagle and half jack russell terrier. he's flunked out of obedience school twice and knows nothing but the phrase "Hanky... Milkbone..". he's eaten all my furniture, keeps me up all night, terrorizes my cat and causes me more stress than i can handle sometimes... but i love him to pieces.
the thing is that for the past two days he's been randomly peeing on things for no apparent reason. walking around the coffee table... he pees on it. passing by the rocking chair... he pees on it. he knows to go to the door when he wants to go out... no problem. i cannot for the life of me figure out why he's doing this.
does anyone have any idea?? i'm BEGGING for any guess you could make.

this is probably a dominance issue. your dog does not see you as the 'leader of the pack' JRT's are not easy to own & need a firm owner. google cesar millan, he's the 'dog whispherer' on TV. maybe he will have some useful tips for you

i did some hunting on the internet and from what i gather hank is stressed. my boyfriend has been away at school for the past four weeks. so all week while i'm at work hank is alone but on weekends jeff and i are both here and all is normal. i'm thinking that maybe this is the root of the problem as jeff is "alpha male" around here. any thoughts?
i really appreciate this by the way. you can't imagine the hell i've gone through with this dog since we got him.

Hi,
You are not alone. I thought I was the only one with the most destructive dog who ever inhabited this planet! He was a stray when we got him and so had many issues. I also tried dog training but I only made his problems worse. I was so desparate I paid a pet psychic to give me a reading. Like another respondent said, he thinks he is the boss and the alpha dog. Another kind person told me that a tired dog is a good dog. He needs a ton of exercise and he needs to know that you are the boss. I can't count the number pillows and sheets on my bed Spuds ripped to shreds. I got very good at patching things up. He ripped the skirt off of my sofa. One night, he and his new buddy, a blue heeler mix puppy ripped the carpet up in the hallway. You need to neuter him first of all if that hasn't been done. If that has been done, he needs to be on a leash in the house until he stops marking his territory. When you are gone, he needs to be in a crate, but make sure it is a very large one so he can move around. This dog will go crazy if he is left in it too long and not able to move around. Kong toys with dog biscuits in them are a source of great fun for all 4 of my dogs. Spud's needs more attention than the other 3 put together. We are not sure what kind of dog he is but he looks like a Karelian Bear dog. but he is solid white with white around each eye and pointed black ears. He is 4 years old now and he has finally stopped the destruction. He needs a firm hand and he knows when I say something I mean it. I also love my dogs to death. I even cook for them and with all of the petfood recalls, I am very glad. That is another thing, watch what you are feeding him. Some of the commercial treats and dog food have really horrible ingredients, along with preservatives such as BHT, sugar, etc.. they can make a dog hiper. I have a boston terrier who was having periodic seizures and she stopped completely when I started cooking her food exclusively and watch what treats she gets.. only human grade ingredients... I hope this helps...
