Default Hi....I'm new here!

Hi. I just found this site & decided to join. I have 3 dogs; a 10 year old mixed breed (terrier/Dalmation), a 1.5 year old mixed breed (German Shepherd/Greyhound) and a 5 year old Pit Bull.

The Shepherd/Greyhound mix, whom we named Bambi because of her long, long legs & deer-like appearance, has only been in our family for about a month. Shes a darling, sweet tempered girl whom we rescued from a neglect situation. She was kept in a too-small crate for most of her first year & as a result limps on one leg or another most of the time. She goes to the vet monday to be sure its not displaysia, which Shepherds are prone to have. I'm thinking its most likely some sort of muscle deterioration due to inactivity. She also chews everything not nailed down, but we are working on that. She loves running around with the other 2 dogs in our large, fenced in yard.

The Pit Bull , named Misty, we took from a friend who wasn't feeding her right & shes thrived here for the past 4 years. She is my 13 year old daughter's best friend & protector. She'd be a lap dog if we let her, but at 60 lbs, thats pretty uncomfortable! LOL.

The oldest "child" and only male is our 10 year old mixed breed, Scruffy. Hes the pampered, spoiled one....and the only one allowed to sleep on our bed. Hes very furry & nice & soft to pet.

We also have a 7 year old cat named Carrot (no, shes not orange) and my daughter has 5 pet rats.

I have to run off to the bus stop now (I'm a crossing guard) but I hope to get to know everyone here before long. I'll be back to read & post more later.

Yeah, he is the smartest dog I have. Its amazing how he always seems to know exactly what I want him to do & he can learn new commands quickly, even at 10 years old.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I am fairly new myself. I have learned a lot of things from reading all the posts. I give advice when I can, but mainly just love to read about other dog lovers. I don't have any right now, ours died at the age 15 three years ago. It has taken me that long to get over her death. I hope, if things go right, get a Silky Terrier next Spring. My name is Karen and live in Northern Michigan.
Look forward to more about your three dogs.
Karen
