 Hello - need help with shih tzu puppy
Hi to all. I have a 13 week male shih tzu puppy--and I have a problem NO ONE seems able to help me with. I have talked with his breeder, I have had a trainer come in the house, I have talked with the vet---maybe someone can help me.
I have two shih tzus. I had another for 15 years who died in July-so I am very famiiar with crate training and training in general.
My little guy will go out and pee, everytime we take him -he will do his #2 only outside...BUT in the kitchen or in crate he will pee...AND THEN LICK IT UP. Obviously as soon as I see this I stop it and tell him NO, but I am not with him thru the night- I was told by the breeder that the puppy is imitating his mom-who he left at 8 weeks.
Is there anything to put in their water which would make his urine less tasty to him? And does anyone know why he does this? The vet said it was a "behavorial" problem, but did not give me ways to handle it. I would appreciate any thoughts all you dog folks have.
