Red face Biting Puppy

hey everyone, just wondering how much biting is normal puppy play. we got our puppy (we're not sure what she is) a week ago and she just wont stop biting anything and everything, she bites clothes and hands and will try to latch onto every part of our bodies, even my back. she's normally pretty good, but if she gets too excited there's no hope of stoping her. any ideas on the best way to get her to stop? thanks x

Hi there.

Its typical puppy behavior for them to do exactly what you said. Everything is new to them...and they explaore their world with their mouths...kind of like human children. Plus they are teething.

There are several techniques to getting them to stop biting you. We have been using this one here with our puppy. Whenever she bits us we yelp in a high pitch voice and ignore her. Its the same thing any other puppy would do if she bit them or played with them too ruff. SHe is getting the point and is no where near as bad as she was. She sometimes forgets when she gets to frapping around the house and being a lunatic...but she is getting there.

You can also get some Bitter Apple Sray from a pet store. The taste of that will also discourage them from attempting to make your fingers into Vienna Sausages. Also try google'n techniques about puppy biting...there are plenty.

They key to all of them is make sure you are consistantly reinforcing good behavior.

Good Luck!!!
