Question Destroying her crate to pieces

My adorable 15 month old dog has decided that she no longer wants to be crated during the day. I have read a few of the messages on this site with the varying opinions of crating a dog. I must say that I really did not want to crate her, however all training professional that I met with, explained to me that she is like a teenager in human years, and it was dangerous to keep left alone in the apartment.

Recently, she has been detroying the plastic tray that sits at the bottom of her crate. I am not sure how to deal with situation. Our apartment is not large enough to give her a free space where she would not get hurt or destroy the place.

In addition she has started to pee in her crate. Before she would hold it but now she doesn't. She seems to have so much anxiety about being placed into the crate, that I think she make herself crazy.

Any advice of what might be the issue would certainly be appreciated.

thanks much,

Did you start your dog out gradually, with short time in the crate in the beginning and gracually increase the time? It sounds like your dog needs a lot of excerise to release it's anxiety and get worn out, so being in the crate would be nice, just to relax. Also put your dog's favorite toys in the crate.
Good Luck
