Default Excessive water drinker?

Hi,

I am new to this forum. My female Australian Cattle dog is 11 years old. She has always been in great health, but recently in the last 3-4 months seems to be drinking a lot more water than usual. She still gets the same amount of exercise and her diet is steady. Just curious if anyone has seen the same behavior in their dogs.

Does your dog pee alot? My mom's dog is diabetic and one of the signs was she was drinking an excessive amount of water, but she was also urinating a ton, ie, in the house and whenever she had to go which was highly unlike her. My mom's dog is almost 11 years old and was diagnosed about a year ago. She's on insulin which helps but she still drinks water excessively. Not saying your dog has become diabetic, just throwing that out there for you to research.

Absolutely, Diabetes is a possibility. Especially with her age. I would have it checked out with the vet. It is possible that she is just more facinated with water as well I have noticed that with a some of my older animals. They used to play and be curious, but as they get older getting up for a drink of water is the most comfortable kind of exercise.
