I hope I'm doing this right. I saw this site and am hoping someone can maybe help me with a problem. I live in AZ and adopted a 1 yr. old standard poodle a month ago. We have a swimming pool and he has not been around one before. He has gone in on the first step and I pushed him out further so he turned around and splashed back. Then yesterday he skidded into the pool. Luckily, my husband heard him fall in and pulled him by his collar to the steps. He spends a lot of time outside, when we are not here. I have taught several dogs to swim and exit the pool before, but it was in the summer. The pool is about 65 degrees, so it's difficult to get in ourselves. I am anxious to get him trained before he falls in when no one is here. Any suggestions for cold water training would be much appreciated. (Just hope I can figure out how to look at any answers.) Thank you.
