Hello everybody!
I just started this tonight. I don't have any problems with my 5 and a half year old purebred Siberian Husky. I know the breed pretty well so I'm used to his behaviors. He is, however, the biggest baby I've ever seen, weighing in at 71 pounds and always looking for an invitation onto the couch or bed. I was on another forum, called DelphiForums. I decided to migrate to this one because the other one didn't seem to share much frequent communication. Hope you'll welcome me into your forum family!

Thanks and thanks again!
He definately does have a very interesting personality.
My fiance and I brushed and bathed him today, he wasn't very fond of that.

LOL Most of them are not. Your dog is beautiful! I have always wanted to own big fuzzy dogs like that, but with my allergies it's not a great option. I would pay good money for a dog if I could be guaranteed that it would take a bath and get groomed without attitude It's a wrestling match everytime.

Thanks...
It's actually recommended that you brush them very frequently but I have a routine that seems to work really well with him. Where we live the weather changes REALLY suddenly so with the time it takes for his coats to come in, it works better for him with my routine. I have a comb for him that if you brush at an angle it gets out all the extra hair he carries around. My fiance usually has to tackle him so I can brush his back legs and tail. (He hates that) Then my fiance and I lure him into the bathroom. My fiance picks him up and puts him in the tub. (At 71 lbs, I can't) I get into my bathing suit and stand over him, one leg on each side, and my fiance sits/stands outside the tub and we take turns getting him wet/scrubbing and holding onto him. Then we wait until he's not so wet (usually a couple hours or so) and brush him again to get any loose hair out that might have come loose during the bath. We do this routine twice a year - when his summer coat comes in and when his winter coat comes in. After that procedure he doesn't shed at often or as much. It works well for the area we live in. I lucked out with no allergies, just sinus problems that were genetic.
He's definately a character. We're looking into boxers for our next breed though. My fiance, his dad, and I all love Rex to death but we think that when we start having kids, it's probably better we move to a breed that doesn't shed so much. I go more into detail about that in All About Dog Breeds. Check that out too.
