Question hi from downunder

hi everyone, im from western australia and have a rescued german shepherd called Bo, he is about 2 yrs we think and has a very boisterous outgoing personality. have discovered he does a lot of his basic commands by ahnd signal only, and was wondering if anyone else has heard of this and if so what is it used for? he was picked up as a stray and thought it might help in determining where he was before he came to us.my curiosity is now in top gear after accidently discovering his talent!!

Hello mindy1702 and welcome. I have owned and trained GSD's nearly my entire life. I have always trained mine to hand signals only. No special reason except to show off with my babies I suppose Also, sometimes they would be at a distance from me and I didn't want to have to yell to tell them what to do.
I hope you have years of fun with Bo.
