Question @ or # dogs?

We currently have a 1 year old parti pom that will be 1 tomorrow actually. We're getting a boy & girl shih tzu shipped to us on tuesday. They're both so darn cute! We can't decide if our Pom would do better with a boy or a girl or maybe we'll keep both! Has anyone had experience with a 3 dog household? Is a boy & girl better than 2 females?

well as one who has 15 dogs I have never had a problem with females and or males. There is sometimes far too much emphasis put on this issue when in most cases there are no real issues especially if the dogs are neutered/spayed or in your case, young.

Thank you! I think you're right but everyone seems to have an opinion. So I have decided to follow my own instincts and it will all work out. I'll let you know soon!

We had two males and one female at the same time, and they all got along great. I think it has more to do with the personalities of the dogs, and the way the owner handles scuffles that arise in the beginning than it does the gender or age of the dogs. One of ours was pretty old, one was a young adult (maybe 3 or 4 years) and the third was a pup about 6 months old when we got her. Has your Pom been socialized with other dogs much?
