Welcome and hope you enjoy your time here.
I would like to point out that if you in fact have a German Pinscher, it is not Italian Greyhound and Dachshund but is in fact a smooth coated standard Schnauzer. The Miniature Pinscher breed stock is Italian Greyhound and Smooth coated Dachshund. The German Pinscher is a larger breed approx 18 to 22 inches tall weighing anywhere from 25 to 35lbs when fully grown. Their history is spotty but in the 1700's Standard wire coated Schnauzers started throwing smooth coated dogs. It took til 1895 when the Pinscher-Schnauzer Klub of Germany finally recognized the breed as a seperate breed. They gave the breed name as Deutscher Pinscher (German Pinscher). The Miniature Pinscher was around over a hundred years before and is smaller coming in at approx 10 to 12 inches and weighing in at 9 to 12lbs. They are in no way related that is to say until the late 1940's early 1950's. Heir Werner Jung was able to escape Germany with 3 registered female German Pinschers. The breed was near extinction at that time. With no males available he turned to 5 over sized Miniature Pinschers as breed stock to revive the breed. But original heritage of the German Pinscher comes from the standard Schnauzer with the Miniature Pinscher (Zwergpiinscher) coming from the IG and Dachshund.
