Hello Everyone!
Hi, I am new to Dog Forum. I am interested in learning about a lot of different breeds and I figured this would be the place to do it. I currently care for a 15 year old Shih Tzu, however I am wanting another dog. Because of my living situation I have to stick to small breeds but I just can't decide on one. Every week I think a different one would be better. So far my tops are - Yorkie, Papillon, French Bulldog or a Min Pin. I won't be able to actually get a new dog until I transfer schools in 6 months or more but I am so excited that I can't help but finding out as much as I can. I am also not against getting a rescue mix but I have had several in the past and I am interested in getting a purebred so I know more about what I am getting. Also, my future mother-in-law has offered to buy whatever dog I'd like as a thank you for taking care of her Shih Tzu while she can't. ANYWAY! Sorry that was terribly long winded. I am very excited to explore the site and drop in here and there. Its awesome to meet you all.

Thanks for your kind heart taking care of her Shih Tzu, her dog is pretty age now. Please consider shelter or rescue house, they usually give advices for rescuer and recommend breeds that will to their lifestyle.

as wishbone noted, rescues would be a great place to start. If you do go with a Miniature Pinscher I would recomend an older one. This breed is a terrier not a true toy breed and therefore are high energy and can be destructive if left home free to roam. They are also not a good breed for apartments as they are natural guard dogs so they have a tendency to bark at noises which generally upsets neighbors.

No I am not a Miniature Doberman, I was around 200 years before Karl Frederich Louis Doberman created the Dobie, and as for my friends the Manx cats, yes they are better at playing fetch than I am, I am a Miniature Pinscher. http://blackhawkkennels.webs.com/
