Hello, I am new to the site and I am enjoying reading all of the different threads. I am currently the owner of an energetic Old English Sheepdog. He is 1 year old. We rescued him from our local ASPCA.
I am extremely upset at the moment at PETSMART. I have taken him there for grooming several times. In January I took him and 1 week later I noticed he was limping after our walk. When I checked his paws the pads were torn. I took him to our vet who thought that it may have happened from the salt on the ground. We recently had snow. I had to soak his paws, give him antibiodics and put on booties.
I took him back to PetSmart 1 week ago to be Groomed again. I thought it was odd that he was reluctant to go in the back as he loves to be groomed. He was very anxious to leave when I came to pick him up. This week the same problem with his paws happened again. There has been no snow so the salt explanation did not apply. They look as though they were burnt. And are blistered.
My husband went to talk to the manager who acted as though he could care less about the whole issue. When my husband asked how they dried the dogs he was told that they but a heater under the cage! This may explain what the problem is with his paws. He stated that he would give us a refund if we wanted it. When I went back to the vet he told me that they have a lot of problems with animals being injured from PetSmart.
I will never take my dog to be groomed by them again. I paid $90.00 for that groomig only to have my dog hurt. They also neglected to cut his nails as I requested as was part of the package.
Has anyone else had the same experience?
