Exclamation Hello everyone!! looking for help with new pup!!

Hi!!
I'm Rebecca! Its nice to meet you all!

My hubby-to-be and I just got a new puppy named Atticus. He is a 4 month old chocolate lab and hes sooo sweet.

We were looking for some advice on housebreaking him. We've been sticking to putting him in the krate when we arent home, and also at night time. He was pretty good with going to the back door when he needed to go outside, but all of a sudden hes given up on that. We also have a 2 year old black lab, and it seems when the two get playing together, Atticus loses all bladder control! now he will only go outside when we go with him. It seems like hes getting too old to still be going in the house!! Is it starting to get too late?? or is there still hope??

ANY adivce you can give would be so greatly appreciated!!!

thanks so much!

with pups it is not uncommon for them to learn then forget. Like a child, they require constant routine. Find one that works for you. Regular feeding followed by a short time than out to do their business. As for losing it while playing, this is normal as the last thing on their mind when playing is planning on when to stop and go.

Smile Hi Rebecca!

Hey hun,

Glad you're enjoyin your new puppy.

Well I have an 8 and a half month Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and have experienced similar with her. I think all puppies vary, but no I don't think it's too old for your puppy to still be doing this.
My puppy still wees when she gets excited, although she is getting better now. She no longer just wees for no reason in the house, she goes outside and responds to the word "quickly"! However she was still weeing on newspaper inside at 4 months, in fact she prob dint stop this til about 6 months.

So no need to worry, they do grow out of it. Just a pain whilst it happens!
Good luck huni and good luck with the wedding too!

Jess xxx

Even older dogs can be trained, you just need a constant guide for them. If you see he can't control his pee, there might be something wrong with his bladder, ask vet advice for it.
