Hi All,
Like someone else (sorry didn't make note of the name) I was cruising around the internet to see if there were *safe* dog food alternatives around and stumbled on this friendly looking place. Thought I should be polite and introduce ourselves.
What can you say about dogs? One is great so two must be twice as great and then there's that cute little puppy you just can't say no to..and before you know it...you have four dogs and wonder what happened to your house, your family and your life...
I have two Japanese Chins (yes, I've heard ALL the "double chin" jokes) a sable and white boy named Utah and a black and white girl named Kiba (which is supposedly Japanese for "Fang" but I'm not sure I trust those online translation sites). They are the best dogs....so easy to care for and so fun and loving. They are true lap dogs...90% of the time they are happily sitting in your lap (or next to you) and the other 10% they are running laps...literally.
They were just so easy to have around that when I saw that Maltese puppy....well I didn't really think about how different they might be...they're both small, right? How tough could it be?
So we got a Maltese female and called her Polly Molly Doodle Alda Day. Doodle for short. She sure got the house jumping! The Chins had literally NEVER barked before she showed up, but she likes to scare off everything that approaches her yard....including invisible threats and soon the Chins were joining her...and running lap time went from 10% to 40%. But gosh...she is just so CUTE.
Then last Christmas my poor husband had no idea what to get me...so in desperation, knowing that I'm a bit...um...dog crazy....he got me a little male Maltese...which naturally, had to be named Yankee (to go with Doodle). Now lap time is up to 60% and the barking...well...I finally found a "solution" for it, so that's ok...but it was BAD for awhile there.
There is always something hilarious going on here now...they are all natural clowns. The poor cat has learned that they only chase her if she's moving so she plays "statues" to get across the room, freezing whenever a dog looks her way and waiting til they lose interest before taking a few more cautious steps. Every morning we wake to four dogs hysterically happy to see us, no matter how bad we look, and every evening we have laps full of love...what more could you want?
Oh...I should mention...I'm a bit long winded
