Lightbulb Help Choosing a Breed

I am 20 years old living in a condo with my 18 year old sister. My mom owns the condo and she said that she will allow me to have a small dog. My sister has allergies, and is allergic to cats, but has not really shown an allergy to dogs. We grew up in the country and have had big dogs like a lab, a golden retriever, and an airedale. I have been going to my local shelters to look at dogs, I am definetly going to adopt. I am not going to buy a dog from a breeder when I am not planning on showing or breeding. I work a part time job at UPS that is M-F. I leave the house at 10pm and get back around 3am. I take online classes so I will be there majority of the time. I live in Kentucky so the climate is moderate. It gets hot in the summer and cold in the winter. I know some breeds don't do well in the heat and some don't do well in the cold. I need help choosing a dog that would flourish in my type of lifestyle because I love dogs and know that I can give a dog a lot of love in finding his "furever" home.
