Hello everyone I am new to forums, I am the VERY PROUD mamma of Calvin Kingston--a beautiful tri-color Cavaliar King Charles Spaniel. He is almost one-year old now(yes he's having a party). He really changed mine and my families life, here's our long sad story: I called his breeder she answered all my questions to my satisfaction(seemed to be the perfect breeder) then we set up a meeting spot in town where I could get my puppy, I was told that she never allowed people in her breeding facility because her fear of disease. After getting my baby home(he was clear, bright eyed and clean)we went to a vet who all my friends and family Raved about we learned Calvin had many health problems;( Then 2 months later his breeder was arrested for being a puppy mill and creulty to animals. I couldn't believe I actually was fooled and gave this evil lady my money! Not that I would ever take anything for my wonderful baby boy. Our vet is AWSOME! And he practises holistic meds as well as Western meds. Now Calvin eats a Raw diet and supplemnted by Natural Balance dog food. After seeing the difference in Calvin from his diet I decisied that my family should live and eat a lot better. So we went from eating lots processed foods and fast foods to well balanced home-cooked meals. We started recycling and buying recycled things. We have even started a garden--we are well on our way to becomeing a extremely green household and it all started w/ a sickly litttle puppy! Thanks in advance for reading my story and can't wait to become really active in the forums--Tara

Welcome! What a horrible thing to happen! I am glad your story had a happy ending. Whenever choosing a breeder, you should ALWAYS see where they are bred. All reputable breeders will be thrilled to show you their facilities, as that is part of their bragging rights, along with healthy and happy puppies. If a breeder refuses to let anyone into their home, or facility, consider that a BIG RED FLAG!! However, I am glad that your pup was able to get out of the horrible place he was in, and into a wonderful home with you!
