Smile Hi! I am a new shih-poo owner

Can anyone tell me some info about shih-poo puppies? We have a 5 month old and she is so funny! I don't understand why she is going gray. She was jet-black when we first purchased her. I don't mind at all, but I just hope she is okay. We also have a shiba-inu who is 10 yrs. old. The shih-poo bugs her constantly. Will their hair get as long as a shih-tzu's? Do their eyes ever stop tearing? Well, we love her so much, she is so affectionate and cuddly. She just stinks so soon after being bathed! Anyway, if anyone has a minute I'd love to hear about this breed. ( She also has the funniest bark I've ever heard!)

Given that she is a cross of two breeds, she may very well carry downfalls of either of the two breeds she is from. Your best bet is to research the common issues that both breeds individually are known to suffer from such as the teary eyes, and research the best ways to manage them.

As far as fur length, also given that she is crossed, there is no deffinitave or 100 percent deffinate answer as to how it will come out, it could be as long as a pure breeds shih-tzu's hair, it could not be either, it entirely depends on what genes she carries, to detirmine this down the track.

if you are having odour problems, this may very well be a skin issue of some sort, and certainly worth getting the vet to look skin over to make sure there is no allergy, or inherited skin issues that can be causing strong odour.

Hair colouring will often change as a dog gets older, we bought our Akita as a red pinto, who now is all black, grey and white.......a far cry from the red we bought.

the odor problem is probably coming from her food. what exactly are you feeding her?

many things about your puppie's appearence will change as she grows & the fur is just one of them.

i think the odor is caused by the diet... try changing your pet's diet and see if the odor will lessen...

Haven't seen this mix in person. Do you have chance to see her parents? Nothing to worry about if coat.

Default Shih Malt

My Bella is 15 month old SHIH MALT and she was tan and black when we bought her at 3 months old Now she is almost white with very little strands of black around the ears and a little on her tail.

I also had an order problem which was from an ear infection They are prone to ear infections.

I keep her in a puppy cut cause her hair is too too fine and mats easily even with two or three brushings a day.

I have had a mix breed as a child, 4 yorkies, 1 poodle and a minature pincher, none of which was as affectionate, loving playful as my Bella

She has a whole basket of toys and plays with each one daily. My daughter taught Bella to put her toys back in the basket My 8 month old grandson lives with us and Bella thinks he is her friend She is extremely protective of him and shares her toys with him all day long. When he sleeps on the floor Bella lays down next to him.
