Unhappy help i need some adivice

My dachshund came out of the woods tonight with a large lump on her neck(may be full of fluid) and a swollen jaw. She will not let us touch it. Could it be from a sting, or bite. Or could she have been in a fight? My daughter is very upset and the vet is closed until tomorrow. What should I do?

I guess the best you could do is try to make her as comfortable as possible until you can take her to the vet. there's not much you can do because you dont know what it is, and you dont want to do any thing to make it worse.
Good luck!

I have to agree..if it seems to be really bothering her..or gets worse, all vets have emergency numbers for when they don't have office hours. It may be more expensive, but at least it is an option if you need it.

One thing you can do to make her more comfortable is give her 1/2 of a buffer coated asprin. If you don't have buffer coated, it's okay...it helps to keep the asprin from upsetting her tummy. DO NOT GIVE TYLENOL- it can kill her. This will help the swelling and pain. It sounds like a snake bite by the size of the swelling you described. The asprin will get you by until tomorrow- make an appt with your vet and they will probably prescribe rimadyl and an antibiotic. If she gets really lethargic overnight, starts seizing or vomiting uncontrollably, take her to the emergency vet ASAP. Good luck- I'm so sorry your baby is hurt.

You should call a vet, describe his condition and ask for advice. Hope nothing more serious about him.

I always thought uncoated would kill a dog
