What breed is my Puppy?
Hello everyone! I'm new to this board and my hubby and I have added a puppy to our family. My two boys (6 and 2) LOVE him. I adopted him and was told that he was a tri border collie and is 9 weeks old as of today. His name is Gage. My 6 yr old named him...after a car 'gauge'. I think that he is a mix of a border collie and something else. What do you think he is? I've been trying to figure it out!

looks more like he has Husky or Malamute than Border Collie.

Miniature Dachshund? Really? I don't see Dachshund at all. Not even remotely.
He's still pretty young to try to pin down what breeds he is. Could be Husky/Border Collie. Or something totally different, LOL.
How does he carry his tail? Does it curve over his back at all?

Nope his tail doesn't curve over his back at all. I only see husky in him when he rolls around on his back and his ears flip up. I saw for $50 you can get a DNA test kit to do a cheek swab and it will tell you every single breed your pup has in him...i'm curious! Thanks for everyone who has responded so far!

My guess is Australian Shepherd and Siberian Husky mix
Odin the Husky/Aussie Mix | Puppies | Daily Puppy
You can get a DNA test by cheek swab or blood draw. The latter is more expensive but it is supposed to be more accurate and can identify more breeds. I checked out pictures of the different mixes and I found out that I wasn't that great at picking the right crosses. Coloring, ears, tails, short legs, long body...none of that seems to matter. Some of the pics I saw blew me away. One that I would have guessed was a lab mastiff mix was an American Bull Dog and Dachshund mix. Go figure! Good luck and if you do get a DNA test, I would really like to know what you find out.

If you want to get your pup's DNA tested, try this site. Check out the pics and see how good you are at guessing the mixed ancestry. I thought I was pretty good until I stumbled onto this site.

Whatever bloodline on Gage, he's absolutely gorgeous and royal looking. Don't you have any chance to get information about his parents. I see husky and BC on him...

Update on Gage
My FIL took Gage to the vet yesterday for my hubby and I. He has a parasite and was put on some meds but the Vet said it was nothing too serious and to bring him back in 4 weeks. As for the breed...I'm still trying to convince my hubby to get the DNA test LoL. Anyone have any tips on Housebreaking?? We are crate training him and even when he can't move in his crate he still poops and sits in it. He didn't do that at first. My thought was maybe his stomach is upset from the parasite and he doesn't want to hold it?
And the Vet's verdict on what breed Gage is....Husky and Border Collie Mix. Which is pretty funny because my son and husband wanted a Husky and I wanted a Border Collie. So I went out and adopted Gage and was told he was Border Collie (not pure bred) and now I find out he has Husky in him. LoL funny how things like that work out! I guess everyone in my family got the dog breed they wanted!
