I am hoping to be able to learn new information and get to talk with some fellow dog lovers on this forum. I love roaming on different forums, so this is definitely not the first one I've been on.

I have never had a dog before and will be bringing home my first pup (not yet born) around April 20th. He will be a male German shepherd, from West German working lines. He will either be a black and red or a black and tan and we have already decided to name him Trent. We are all very excited to have a dog in the house, me especially.

I've been the one doing all the preparation and research. I have always been a fan of the German shepherd dog and decided it was my breed of choice. It took a long while to find a reputable breeder near enough to drive to, but finally I found one I was very satisfied with - they have bred around 174 German shepherd litters and both the breeder and his daughter are certified international working dog judges. Very reputable, and very trustworthy.

The pup will be a strictly companion dog, though I do plan on competing later when I gain more experience. He will be born to the "R"-Litter, and I have yet to decide his registration name. He is expected to be born in 3 weeks.

That's pretty long and exciting to wait. April 20 will be the born date? Then another 8 weeks to wait?
