Default I am new!

Hi- I am new to the forum. I have 3 dogs and also foster puppies that have been rescued. I joined the forum b/c I have a 13 year old Springer Spaniel who is blind, deaf and just wanders around the house. I don't know if I should put her down yet. Looking for support and advice.

that's a difficult decision to make but i don't think that's a good idea to put down a dog.

Its a worry when our dogs get old to know when and what to do. When I was asking the same questions, a vet told me that when your dog loses complete interest in the people they love and the food they like and they look and act depressed, then it is time to think about letting them go...dont stress....you will know when the time comes. Dogs can cope very well with deafness and blindness as long as they have the support of their family (pack).

Welcome to the forum!

That is a hard choice to make. If your dog seems okay with her disabilities then doesn't put her down yet. If she seems depressed though, I think it is time.

I think it's the matter of having good days and bad days, you will eventually feel it if you see he's not having fun of his life or he's just suffering. It's hard to let it go but sometimes it is the better choice. So sorry for your dog's situation, sending hugs and vibes now.

Hi there
I think the advice given is good sound advice.
I know what my vet told a friend of mine when she had similar concens for her cat.
He said 'as long as the animal is not in pain its your choice but there comes a time when you have to ask yourself for whom am I doing this? Is it for the cat/dog or am I just unwilling to let go/say goodbye'?
