I'm new to the site and have a bit of a problem. I own two 8 month old cane corso's and the female as gone into heat! Not sure when for sure but I did notice she has been mounting the male for a few days and just noticed blood today. I had planned on getting her fixed this month but I waited to long, I worried they will try and breed! Is this a concern at this age? I do know I can not allow them to breed but feel I'm stuck in a tricky situation.

can you separate them until the heat is over?

She WILL get pregnant if she is with a male... KEEP HER FAR AWAY FROM ALL MALE DOGS.. DO NOT LET HER OUT OF YOUR SIGHT! Getting pregnant at this age is extreamly dangerous.

If you go to the petshop they have cloth/velcro diapers you can use to keep your house clean and help keep her safe... although know bitches who were bred even with the diapers on so big thing is KEEP HER AWAY FROM THE BOYS!

She will be in heat for 3 weeks... After a few weeks you can have her spayed.

orangedog, thanks for posting about the diapers. forgot all about those. they are pretty inexpensive too. been a long time since I had a dog that needed them so i could get them spayed. usually mine were already done or had the appt. before they came in heat.
