Hello Everyone. Can someone out there give me some advice on how to treat a year old dachsund who is loosing her fur like mad. She is worse than my long haired cat. We noticed that she was really getting bad before and after going into heat. What can I give her to stop it. She hates the doggy brush but what can I do.

Well if she is older get her spayed it is super rough on older dogs to have puppies not to mention it would help the over population of unwanted dogs. Beyond that take her to the vet I have never heard of hairloss in that breed before.

How old is your dog, is she a long haired because long haired dog shred. If you're too worried a vet visit worth.

Hello. Is your dog long haired dachshund?? I do not know about fur loss on cycle but,I know dog loose fur if dog gets bitten by flea(flea allergy) and itch like crazy and dog bite and gets fur off from area.Or..maybe hot spots?? If area left moist,it gets itchy and dog bite chew a lot and fur gets lost.

I am not a vet and,maybe wrong.Why not going to vet and maybe ask about it?

You can do clicker training with grooming.One blush one click,one treat. My dog used to bite my blush when she was tiny puppy but with such bribe,she now lay on side,relax and enjoy blushing time.

My dachsund just turned a year old and went into her first heat. Cannot figure out why she is loosing her hair. Already taken her to the vet and got no response but the bill.
