Hi Everyone,
We have two labradors, one 13 year old Golden Labrador named Honeybunch and a 5 month old Chocolate Labrador named Mackenzie (Both females) plus two cats and a 11 week old mini lop rabbit. (All Females)
We have had Mackenzie since she was about 8 weeks old. It doesn't seem to learn about peeing on the carpet at all. We have so much trouble attempting to train her and she won't listen at all. She thinks our cats are toys. 18month old Burmese Peppa and a year old Birman named Ruby. She tackles and bites Peppa's even after discplining her. Its even worse with our older dog which she bites constantly and Honeybunch just barks everytime Mackenzie even comes near her. We take her on walks but nothing seems to work.
HELP?????
It's driving my mum insane.

I have owned several show pups throughout my life and they were always kept in the house. On potty training, you have to watch them very closely. If you don't, they will potty somewhere and you won't find it until hours later. If you discipline them then, it will not work because they're not sure what they're in trouble for. Watch them, get them into a routine. When they squat to pee, immediately spank them (not hard please) or rub their nose in it and say NO!! GO OUT! Emphasize the word out. They will learn it I promise. Then immediately put them outside for 5 to 10 minutes, bring them in, and put them in a kennel until they are relaxed in it. Do this every time. Every time you let them outside to potty, use the word OUT. When you get a successful outing, bring them back in and reward with a treat. Potty training takes some time. On the rough playing, use the kennel and good discipline. I have a great dane that played rough early on and I got an old turn stick off of a set of mini blinds. Haha.. All I did was barely tap her rear one time with it and now I can say "I'm gonna get my stick!" and she immediately lays down in her bed. It is so funny. She was potty trained in nearly a week with that method and stopped playing as rough when she realized she was wrong. Try getting your pup some of her own toys and let her know she can only play with these things. Show her exactly what is expected of her and what is not. Dogs are smart but need help understanding what we want. Also when gone, use the kennel. They will be ok for hours in their kennel once they learn it is ok for them. They don't want to stand in pee, so they (more than likely) will not potty in the kennel. If you don't have a kennel for them, I would suggest getting a couple, just big enough for them to turn around in. Every time you put them in say KENNEL. It doesn't take long for them to learn what you mean. If you are using discipline and it is still not working, maybe you aren't disciplining enough or not using enough reward when something is done right. Just please remember on the discipline not to be too rough. You wouldn't want to be hit hard. This way may not work for everyone, but it sure works for me every time. Hope this helps!

Can you consider her for spaying? There is some chances of change of behavior and slow down on dogs when fixed...

I had so many problem's with chevy when he was a puppy and we enrolled in puppy school at our local petsmart... It helped with many problem's..
I alway's use Praise, Praise and more Praise with treat's for good behavior and I ignore the bad behavior.. They love praise and treat's and will do good behavior to get them...
PS.. teach her the word NO. Mackenzie can not pick on Honeybunch or the other member's of the family.. Also like someone else mentioned, spaying may help too...
Let us know how it's going and good luck....

I have learned that when you get a new puppy tie the leash to your belt loops so the puppy is with you constantly. It is easier to catch the puppy trying to pee. And animals that like peeing on the carpet like doing it because the carpet is soft and comfy on their feet. Maybe keeping the puppy in a room without carpet for a while might help. If the puppy does a good job not peeing on the floor, then allow her in a room with carpet and see how it does. If you have to go out, put a baby gate up and close doors to rooms that have carpeting, or find a comfy crate to put her in.
