Hey Sylvie! I hate leaving Kramer, but I've learned that he picks up on my emotions, so I try to just make it as natural as possible when I leave, no big deal, I'll be back soon...
and here's the hard part - try not to make a fuss when you return! Just be casual and nonchalant... It seems to have worked for me! Now when I come home, he gets up and greets me, but not in a crazy way, then he goes back to sleep!
Still...when I am planning to leave, he gives me 'that look'... Like, you're not taking me??? Don't you love me anymore??? You gotta be strong my friend!

leave him for a few minutes at a time gradually increasing the time. give treats when you go to him.
for example : leave him in a room. walk to another room or outside for a few minutes come in and give a treat. then when he is ok with that increase the time. after awhile he will learn mom is coming back.
don't forget to leave him something to do as dogs/pups get bored when left by themself.
this has worked many of times for me.

Hi Aunty Sylvie and welcome to the forum. I think timber&gizzy's idea is good.. Let us know how he's doing and good luck....
I know it break's my heart when I have to leave mine alone for any amount of time, the sad eye's look tears me up....

Thank you for all of your advice. I will try leaving him in a room and giving him a treat when I get back. Will keep you posted on his progress. He is only 16 months so I think I can turn it around.

hmm
I use to have a dog who chewed up everythign when I was gone and cried after I closed the door, and would scratch up everything. What I learned was if you dont want to lock up the dog in a cage give him things to do, such as leaving the t.v. on so its like you are home, or leaving a light on. You know small things. And make sure he has plenty of things to do, a bone to chew on, some toys, or a friend. On the other hand if you put them in a cage they will be fine. It might just be you giving in to the dog crying wich isnt the best idea, it shows the dogs has won over you. (Good luck)
