Smile My Labrodor

My Labrodor has been acting a bit to Wierd since the past week. its
become too active (or should i say hyperactive). Its not like him to
behave this way. Its quite traied (not professionally i should say) but
it was not into Jumping and bumping into things since it turned near one
and a half. Now its nearly 5 and its too wierd to see it active.

At first i thought that it could be something to do with the neighbour
or may be it had seen something which made it jump around (it always
does that while it sees a cat or something) but this has been going on
for a week and thats totally getting me a bit Hyper too.

A friend of mine told me that his dog (german shepherd) had the same
problem and it turned out to be the Cushing's Disease or something. I
learned a bit on it and it turns out to be having the same symptoms.
Should i see a vet or go with the same prescriptions my friend has been
using...

He has been using some Supraglan and later a variation of the same which
is not available any more so am said. Is this medication safe without a
vet's recommendation or Should i go and see a vet for something like this.

Hope to hear from you guys. Thanks a million in advance.

Can you call and talk to your vet about it all? I would think you should see a vet and make sure that it is Cushing's disease first---maybe it is Diabetes. I say that because I was just in another forum: http://www.pethealthforums.com/forum/ and someone had mentioned that the vet had told them that it could be one or the other. And it prob. could be other things too---You'd want to know before you started 'treating' for the wrong thing!! And if you want to know more about supraglan---Put that word in your browser (as I just did and that is where I found that site I mentioned above). Putting that word in your browser brings up quite a few sites. BUT--I hope you will get a 'proper' diagnosis 1st!! Has your dog recently had any vaccinations--There are a lot of side effects from them that may be the problem too!
I just clicked on the blue address above and it says (in my computer-anyway--and I do have this happening a lot--says page not found, etc) If it doesn't work for you--you will find it anyway if you put supraglan in your browser!

Hi, I would take your pup to a good vet to find out exactly what is wrong before giving him or her any type of medicine.. Good Luck and let us know how it's going..

PLEASE don't medicate your dog without seeing a vet!!! You can certainly tell your vet about your friend's experience with his GSD, that may in fact help him with his diagnosis, and therefore cost you less than if he had to search out all the options on his own.
Good luck, and let us know what the outcome is?

Question

Before giving any animal medication, they should be taken to the Vet first. With that being said it could be the weather, another dog in the neighborhood triggering some unwanted behavior...

I wouldn't even think of medicating either one of my girls until they had been seen and tested by their vet.

Is your pet panting excessive ? Unusual Hunger? these are a few signs of cushings disease tho not all.

Any frequent urination, accidents on the floor, this is the link to the cushings forum, you can view symptoms

It is necessary to consult a vet first before taking those advice, one thing might work with other dogs but not to all dogs. As for your super bouncy dog, consider a agility or obedience class. GSD's are intelligent and could easily get board and those activities on training classes could be a challenge for them.
