Default Hi From Canada

Hi All -
I am new to this forum, but I am looking forward to getting some ideas and advice.
I am a shepherd lover. I am on my second, first died at 5 from a stroke.
My new pup 1 1/2 is a handful! He is very high energy, anxious, nervous.
I am having difficulty with aggression with people. Strange aggression, sometimes his cues are very hard to read. Not typical at all so I am heading out to check the forums for some ideas.
Cheers,
Puppymamma

HI! Welcome to the forum. Can't help you with what you mentioned above but I am compelled to get all German Shepherd owners to read a post I did on a big problem they have. Please go to my profile page--click on Statistics, then on Find all THREADS by me and then find title German Shepherds-Nutrition and click on it. I really believe this breed dies a lot sooner than they should because of this problem.

Talking Hello again

Just was on your profile page and see you have same birthday as my youngest daughter (She is older than you though) and it is my Corky's birthday today and he is getting up there in age too--turned 11 today. Lol, Corky is a cocker spaniel/golden retriever mix. Also have a all cocker called Max who turned 10 on April 1st. Can see them in my album on my profile page if you like. Do you have pics. to share? Would love to see your pup!

Welcome PuppyMamma, what's your GSD's name? Can you consider enrolling him to an obedience or agility training class? GSD's are very intelligent breed and they easily get bored. You can bunch of expert advice from trainers there.

Default Wishbone

Yes We have done 2 levels of obedience - I am currently taking him for a refresher, just so he has to work around other people, dogs, distractions.
I have also had private sessions with a local trainer. He loves the agility equipment and I think that is where I will go next. You are correct shepherds are very intelligent and I know that this is a lot of his issue. Let's hope someday I'll be able to prove to him that I am smarter!
