Default Hello!

Hi,

I just found this site when I was searching for a place to get info on hip dysplasia. We have a house full - 2 dogs and 3 cats. Ruger is a 14 mos old boxer and who knows what mix (we think maybe german shepherd and possibly great dane?), Winnie is a 16 mos old Aus Shep/Border Collie mix, Sebastian is a 3 1/2 year old Maine Coon, Jersey is a 4 year old orange and white cat and Mambo is a 7 1/2 year old orange tabby.

Winnie was just diagnosed with hip dysplasia and the vet wants her on 150 mg of Rimadyl/day for the rest of her life. I am very anti-medication, especially when it's not necessary, so I've been trying to find some information online about what some of the more natural treatment options are. I know that some day she is going to need pain killers and possibly hip replacement. But if I start her on pain pills every day now, her liver or other organs will give out long before the dysplasia gets the best of her.

If anyone has any suggestions of foods or supplements, I'd be happy to hear!

Default Welcome!

I too found the site while looking for information to help my dogs! I wish I had known about it when I first got them. It probably could have saved me tons of time and effort now as I could have trained them right from the beginning.

Sorry to hear about Winnie. I don't know much about her condition, but there are tons of people here willing to help. So hang in there!
