I've been with my new masters for about 8 weeks now. they treat me very well! i am very happy. My favorite things to do includes biting on everything i can get my teeth on. I cant help it. i know my master doesn't want me to chew on certain things but i just cant control it! I love seeing other dogs and people! especially girls
anyways. Hilo to all =] btw any shiba in the house?
This is my 3rd time posting, but for some reason the admin wont put up my posts. hopefully this one works

Hello-welcome
That is a great looking dog. Lol, thought I'd tell you a little of what 1 of my books says about this breed---but you prob. know the 1st thing already!! Quote: Be Aware--Prone to wreck havoc on your house as a puppy, and digs and climbs with ease! (figure you've had it just long enough to find that out--right?) Also says: Needs firm, consistent training.
Energetic, friendly, loyal --- Good watchdog---Ideal for urban or apt. living, but needs plenty of exercise. TEMPERMENT: Lively and good natured, Shibas are smart but somewhat difficult to train. They are very independent and choose which commands to obey. Although extremely sociable, they can be aggressive to unfamiliar dogs. HEALTH PROBLEMS: The breed is generally hardy and healthy with few genetic weaknesses. Its waterproof, all-weather coat protects it in both cold and hot conditions, so it can live outdoors if you have a secure yard of reasonable size. However, it does regard itself as part of the family and doesn't like to be left alone outside. Unquote. After reading up on this breed I get the impression that it will be a 'character' and fun and interesting to have!! Enjoy! Hope you stay in the forum and keep us updated on your 'adventures' with your puppy!

Can't Get Over That Cutie!!
Thought I'd quote a couple more things: HISTORY: It is the smallest of the Japanese Spitz-type dogs and was originally bred to flush birds and small game from brushwood areas. The name Shiba possibly comes from a Japanese word for brushwood, or it may derive from an old word meaning small (inu means dog). DESCRIPTION: Agile and well proportioned, it has a strong body and alert bearing. The double coat usually comes in red tones, sable or black and tan, with pale shadings on the legs, belly, chest, face and tail. HEY! How did you get this color---Is it 'rare' or is it what would be considered tan? One of the reasons I came back with more info--GROOMING: The coarse, stiff, shorthaired coat is easy to groom. Brush with a firm bristle brush, (and this next part here I thought would be info you'd like to know)--and BATHE ONLY WHEN ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY AS THIS REMOVES THE NATURAL WATERPROOFING OF THE COAT.---------Because of its convenient size and vivacious, outgoing personality, the Shiba Inu is now the most commonly owned pet dog in its native Japan, and is gaining in popularity worldwide. (My book is 11 yrs. old but prob. the above sentence pretty much still applies!) Love that pup--I have 2 dogs (can see them in my album on my profile page)--ages 10 and 11. I love dogs and know when these 2 are gone, I will want 1 more so have been thinking about what kind--seeing your pup makes me think about this kind--only prob. is that breed might be too energetic for me in my older age but for sure if I were younger--would of been a good possibility! Again, enjoy the little 'stinker.' Can I say that, lol, I just have the feeling he is going to be in to mischief but with a lot of character and a lot of fun too!
