Smile Hello and Help too.

Hi Everybody,

I just joined the forums last night and am getting acquainted with it today.

I live in the mountains of Northern California, in a small town of only 300. Up until last July,2008, I had two dogs. But Sweet Pea, my Husky/GSD/Wolf mix, who was 15 years old, passed away. Now I'm down to just one 13 year old dog. Her name is Lena and she is an Aussie/Sheltie. We both really miss Sweet Pea alot.

I am on the hunt for another dog, hopefully another Aussie/Sheltie . I have had many breeds over the years, mostly Aussies and I have to say, that the Aussie/Sheltie cross is by far, the most satisfactory of any of them. Extraordinarily smart, trainable, loyal, kind to all they meet, protective if they need to be, and excel in doggy sports. This cross brings out the best of both breeds. I love this cross but it's not easy to find.

Maybe you can help me. I'm having a problem loading an avatar, here on the forums. Is that not available to new members?

I had trouble loading avatars too. Someone else had to do it for me. Why don't you go to your local humane society and pick up a dog? You can get another Aussie/sheltie (if you can find one) but it won't be the same as your old one. So maybe going to a shelter and getting a dog might be the best thing. There are tons of lovely doggies in there. We got our saint bernards from shelters, and they are the sweetest, most loyal dogs on the planet.

Welcome mate, I've met alot of shelties and many aussies and they are really cool and very intelligent, a dog the mix is the winner last local show here, she's so pretty..

So sorry about your Sweet Pea, wishing you best luck on looking a companion for Lena..

Where I live, we have no shelters. I live pretty far off the beaten path. I've been watching PetFinder but as of yet haven't seen what I'm looking for. I will probably end up getting a purebred Aussie,if I can't find an exact mix of Aussie/Sheltie, that is with in a reasonable driving distance, of where I live.

I also notice that I have an avatar today. It is the photo that I uploaded in my profile, so the profile photo and the avatar must be the same.

Thanks for the advice.

Hi Corky/Max! Yes I've been keeping an eye on Craig's list and there was a really pretty red tri, Aussie pup on there a few weeks ago but unfortunately, I was too late and he already found a home. I've been watching the lists from several areas, that aren't too far away. I have a feeling that when the time is right, my new doggy family member will appear and I won't miss out. :-D
