So that is your profession--a dog trainer!? You should feel at home here as there are quite a few members that are.

As far as- Do I feel that my dogs have been with me all my life---I am prob. a lot older than you so I can't really say that but I will say--I can't imagine my life without them! And what you said about dogs having a much shorter life span---I am very much aware of what that means and can't stand the thought of my dogs leaving me. Another thing I think about a lot too is, Should I get another dog--I don't know that I could not have a dog around but I don't want to leave before the dog does!! Besides no one could do things the way I do--I feed mostly a raw food diet and no one I know would do that and I would not want my dog to be fed commercial dog food!! Even if someone tried to feed commercial dog food (and I'd --as they say--turn over in my grave) I doubt if my dog would even eat it---I know the two I have now would not eat it! (I tried to give them a sample of a few kibbles just to find out once--No way would they eat it---SMART DOGS!)

How is the training going with the lab? If I had it to do over again, I would have some kind of 'profession' to do with dogs! I would not want to be a vet--But maybe an assistant--Lol, but it would have to be with a holistic vet or I'd prob. be fired the 1st day!! Actually, I'd prob. like to be a dog nutritionist if there is even such a title!
