Hello to everyone!
Hey everybody, what's happening in your world? We are new here and wanted to say hi. My wife and I live in Vermont in a big house with lots of land. We love the outdoors and riding our motorcycle. We also love our dogs and have two, a white German Shepherd named Ten Bears and a puppy Doberman we just picked up,her name is Sinner. Our other Dobie, Sasha was just put down not long ago and was a wonderful friend and companion for many years with us. She was also an excellant guard dog as is Ten Bears and also as will Sinner be when she gets a little older. I train them myself and they get the best of care in every way. I look forward to meeting other good people who love their dogs and pets as much as we do, Caio! ...John

Welcome to the forum. Like to try and guess your dog's breed but have to see a pic(s) 1st!! And a little info too, like age, weight and height (shoulder down) and what is it's name! Where did you get him?
Note: You have same birthday as me (April 27), but I am much older than you.

Hello and welcome to ILD John, sounds like you have two very active and intelligent doggies. I've met couple of white GSD before and they are very sweet, we want to meet your dogs too, please share some pics soon.

Your dog reminds me of 2 different breeds. I am thinking Border Collie and Australian Shepherd. By the way, the Aussie is not Australian at all but was developed entirely in the U.S. to work as a herding dog on ranches. At some point, it was probably crossed with Collie stock. It only in the past 10-15 years gained recognition as a distinct breed. So there is probable cause that these 2 breeds are a lot alike! In my 'breeds book'--the descriptions and pics. are alot alike. The Border Collie has a medium-length, double coat. The Aussie has a coarse medium-to -long coat. Other than that the description is about the same--coloring and markings, well-proportioned bodies, lean and well muscled. Sizes and weight can be the same but Aussies could be a little bit bigger but not always! Put it this way: Border Collie:male--19-22" from shoulder down and weight from 30-45 lbs. Aussie:male--19-23" and weight from 40-70 lbs. Is your dog full-grown yet or are those pics. from the past?! And sorry but I don't have any idea what half a meter is--Only know U.S. measurements.
Will quote what my book says for health problems (tendency toward):
Border Collie: Although generally hardy, the breed is subject to some joint problems and genetic eye diseases, such as progressive retinal atrophy.
Australian Shepherd: Healthy and hardy, although they can suffer from hip dysplasia and eye problems. BE AWARE---They are sensitive to some heartworm preventatives!!
Both breeds need regular and vigorous exercise to keep them in shape, better yet--some real work to do(like herding) Also says this about the Border Collie: These dogs must have enough exercise---boredom leads to bad habits.

hey you had provided me with good info. my puppy is still at 4 mos old. yeah, i also think that he has similarities with border collies but i notice too that my puppy's coat is not that long compared to border collies. BTW, im from the philippines and maybe border collies are not common here. maybe, its a mixed breed of border collies and aspin( a native philippine dog) hehe! i had attached an aspin pic below. what do u think? thank you a lot!

Some links with pictures and info
I have been looking up dog pictures on the 'net' and looking for info on the aspin. Do all aspins look the same? According to what I read--this is a mongrel (street dog) and so could be any mix of breeds. If this is true, then your dog could be part aspin--but I do think it is a mix with border collie or the Australian shepherd. And the border collie comes in two coat varieties--short sleek (about 1" or 2.5 cm.) and in coarse rough (about 3" or 7.6 cm.) This is a link to info and pics. of the border collie:
Border Collie Pics, 2 Also notice the pics of the young pups--coat has not gotten long yet (too young?) and your dog is still a pup, so coat may not be as long yet as it might be as it becomes an adult.
This is link for the Australian Shepherd: Australian Shepherd Information and Pictures, Australian Shepherds
These two links are from this web site: Dog Breed Info Center®, DBI
I love this site. It gives much info and pictures on all breeds (pretty much all!) Sorry the aspin is not there as not considered a true breed I guess. Anyway if you had never seen this site before--Hope you like it! Be sure and scroll all the way to bottom to see all the pictures and then there are more pages to click on at bottom of page for more pics. I think you will see resemblances of your pup--especially the pup pictures. And there is at least one picture of a short-smooth coated adult border collie.
