Hi from England and help
Hi, I am hoping that I can get some advice from all of you dog lovers. I purchased an unwanted Staffordshire Bull Terrier Puppy from a young couple the novelty had worn off, the poor pup had never been outside or had her injection for going out and had quite a few health issues. After getting her back to health and now having had her injection she has had two days of going outside for a walk. Indoors she is excellent and in the two weeks that I've had her, she has learnt at such a speed she must be very intelligent. I understand that she will need training on a lead but she is terrified & lurches at cars, prams and other dogs, I really am not sure of the best way to deal with this to help her has anyone any advice for me?

She really needs socialization. If you could consider a training or behaviour class, that would be great. If she's up to date with her shots, you can bring her to a dog park where she could meet a lot of dogs and dog lovers, ask people to pet her and give her treats.

Welcome! I'm from England too.
Oh dear, poor doggie! Glad to hear you came to her rescue. Shame she has missed out on a lot of socialization, I also would reccomend prehaps a dog training class where she can get socialized?
Unfortuanatly there are no dog parks in England, but taking her to a regular park or place where people walk their dogs would be helpfull. I'd reccomned not taking her to feilds ect, due to other dogs being offleash and that may upset your dog a little bit.
Do you prehaps have any pictures to share? I have a soft spot for Staffies, such beautiful dogs!

delvon with daisey
Hi,
Since this post Daisey has met two friendly dogs and she seems okay with them but wants to jump all over them we still have some way to go with her, but she is not barking at the cars so much now, just the bikes! We take her out three times a day to get her used to it and now she is looking forward to going out. We are getting her some vitamins to build her immune system now as she has had a little bit of mange, the vet has given her injections and pills but we feel she needs some good food and some building up. Her pictures have just been approved and she is under puppys by the name of Daisey, Thanks for your interest
Yvonne

Patience, patience
Bless you for taking in this dog. I have learned from my German Shepherd that training is a life-long process, especially with strong, protective dogs. I think it helps to find a trainer who truly understands the breed. Someone who is great with Goldens may not know how to handle a strong GSD.
Mostly believe that dogs can change with much patience and practice. Sounds like you are doing great.

Hello and welcome! Bless you for offering this dog a loving home. Can you explain how the banning of certain dogs works in England? I live in Ontario (Canada). Pit bulls, Staffies, and any dog resembling a pit Bull is considered banned. The law here is really confusing and in many cases doesn't seem to make sense. It is also very unfair.
