Question Help with nightime in the crate!

Hi!
I just adopted a released guiding eye puppy (9 weeks old). He is fine with his crate all day long, but litterally barks ALL night long. I am more sleep deprived then when my two kids were born. I don't know how to get this under control. Help..any advice welcome!

Smile Welcome to the forum!

I prob. won't be a lot of help, but other members may have more answers--Wanted to tell you not to get discouraged if you don't get many answers right away--most weekends are pretty quiet in here and then 'tis the season and prob. people are pretty busy shopping and getting ready for Christmas! There may be older threads in here on that very question---I will see if I can find a link in here when done posting this. One suggestion: Your pup is pretty young and you haven't had him long--I'm sure he is lonely and misses his mother and siblings, plus this is new surroundings to get use to. You could try the old trick of putting an old fashion alarm clock that makes the ticking fairly loud---This imitates the mother's heartbeat. Don't know if it would be best to just do this at night or leave all day long? Another thing--Put a piece of clothing in the crate that is well scented with your scent. Where is the crate located--Is it possible to (at least at night) have it next to your bed? I hope you will read the posts in here on vaccinations too and not get too many at once---rabies needs to be separated from others and as much time in between from them also. Rabies is best not given until at least 4 months old, and I am thinking 6 mon. is the best time (If you can say it is best at all for that da*n shot). Right now is a bad time for any shots as some may not take as long as the mother dog's protection is still there (can't find the right words here) plus your puppy is stressed right now with all the changes--which stresses the immune system and is very hard on the puppy's health!! Will also see if I can find something in this forum to help explain all this. Also, if you will go to near top of page(s) in here and find the blue strip that goes across the page--Find the word Search--click and put the key word(s) of what you want to know and will bring you to threads with that subject. Example: vaccinations I would leave the selection on threads instead of posts---At least do the threads 1st! Will be back as soon as I find something.
Note: I hope you aren't leaving him in the crate too much and letting him out when you can and often I hope!

Had to paste the link to the whole thread in order to get the blue links (about the vaccinations) to highlight--But some good 'stuff' in the whole thread anyhow--Maybe some ideas you can use too!
New dog owner please help!

Here is what you want to see about the crate issue:
Puppy Help!!!!
If you want to search for more on this in here--Put words in the search box--like I mentioned in my 1st post above---I used this--puppy crying/night/crate--Use all at once! There may be more threads if you have the time to look --lot of going through there and I have to go do some shopping myself! Good luck! Hope some of this helps! Let me know as I will be curious!

Is the crate near you at night? If not, try putting it near by and cover the crate so that it gives the dog a dark den feeling...I do this with all mine and they all learned to quietly go to sleep.
