Hello from Harry and Tilly
Hi everyone,
Just thought I should say hello to everyone as I've just joined the forum. I'm author Harry Porter, and I currently own 11 rescued dogs who all share my home with me and my family. They are Tilly, (Bedlington/Glen of Imaal Cross), Dylan, (Bedlington Terrier), Charlie, (Cairn/Scottie Cross), Penny, (Jack Russell), Molly, (Westie), Snoopy, (Crossbreed), Chloe, (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel), Cassie, (Cairn/ Australian Silky Cross), Sophie, (Lurcher), Dexter, (Staffy/Labrador Cross), and Sally, (Jack Russell pup). As you can imagine, between writing my dog books and taking care of our pack, I have little time for anything else in my life, and so I have to say that I'm well and truly a dog lover!
Best wishes to all

Wow! You are a dog lover (me too)!and thank you for rescuing so many dogs. Sounds like you have an interesting group--But I've never heard of a Lurcher!? Do you have any pics. to share of your dog family? You must live in the country to be able to have so many dogs. Or maybe things are different where you live. Only allowed 2 dogs here (unless you are a breeder and then the puppies have to be gone in 6 months.)
Have you written many books and are they all dog books? Have no idea how 'famous' you might be as an author. I do like to read dog stories but haven't been doing so much lately--Lol, I guess it is partly because I am in this forum so much! Would love to see the cover of your book that you mentioned on your profile/home page.
Hope you like this forum! My 2nd home.

Hello there,
Glad you found the website. Tilly also has her very own blog at Tilly the Rescue Dog's Blog
You might enjoy it. I think you have Lurchers in the USA where they may be known as Stag Hounds or Long Hounds? Sophie is a very beautiful brindle colored specimen.
As for my books I'm probably better known under my other name, under which I write thriller novels and my book 'A Study in Red - the Secret Journal of Jack the Ripper' won the Preditors & Editors Thriller Novel of the Year Award in 2008, and is currently being made into a motion picture.
My Dog books are my passion though and Tilly's Tale is doing remarkably well.
Here's the cover of her book, with Tilly and you can find it at Amazon.com
I'll post some pics of the dogs as soon as I can work out how everything works on this site.
Best regards
Harry

The next book in the series will be Dylan's Tale and is due out in the coming Summer. I'm so pleased you enjoyed Tilly's Blog. she really is rather special. No-one would recognize her now from the abandoned waif she was when we first found her.She is such a little star on the agility course and of course, her biggest achievement has been to learn search and rescue work and be able to locate human DNA in all sorts of locations. I love all of our dogs, but Tilly is the 'special one' who never leaves my side and even sits on my feet while I'm writing at the computer.
Best regards
Harry

Thank you for being so kind. I must admit I love Tilly very much and though I shouldn't have favorites she is a bit special. She never ever leaves my side and is always there for me. To see her transform from an abandoned and frightened young dog into the confident and well trained agility course record holder and search and rescue dog she's become is one of the proudest things in my life.
Best regards
Brian

Yes I was thinking that your writings/blogs/etc would be inspiring for more people to adopt the rescue dogs---Thanks for helping to get that message across--Good work!!

We're hoping the book(s) will have a big impact in that respect. Also, I'm working with a highly regarded British canine behaviorist on a new training manual, which is written from the dog's point of view as opposed to our hman one, and will be specifically aimed at people who have adopted rescued dogs that may have a few behavioral issues. It's contracted with a publisher to appear in about a year, and again I hope it will help to minimize the rejection rate of re-homed dogs.
Best wishes
Harry
