Hi from Dante & Max!
Hi - I just found this site and found lots of people like me! I have two senior goldens, both rescues, and both the loves of my life. They are snoring away as I type this. I'm just finding my way around the site - and thought I (we) would like to say hello. Quick question for you folks out there - do you let your dogs sleep on the bed? I do - and I"m getting quite a bit of grumbling about it from the man in my life. I wonder if he's jealous? The competition is tough....
Have a great weekend!
Terri

Lol--competition is tough huh! I have 2 dogs-one is a cocker/golden retriever mix and other is pure cocker (Can see them on my profile page in my album). They are both seniors now too. Do you have some pics to share--I esp. like seeing golden retrievers and cockers, lol, I wonder why! In answer to your question--I don't allow either in my bed or bedroom. Even as a kid I didn't like the dog laying on my feet or pushing me out of bed! Of course it was a heavy dog. But old ways are hard to change I guess! Hope you like this forum! See you around.
Hey! What are your dog's names? ops: Lol, just realized you did say their names!! My cocker is called Max too, er, actually he gets called Paxer most of the time and you can tell by my user name that the cocker/golden is called Corky!

Hi! Thanks for the reply... your babies are beautiful. I think I've put a picture or two up - but I"m still trying to figure out how to do things here. They really have a beautiful look and coats - how do you keep them so shiney?
My boys always slept on their dog beds in the bedroom until I got divorced, then I invited them up. Now, they are used to taking up most of the bed. In the winter - that's ok! As you can see by the picture of my boys (if it's up) - yeah, they truly are tough competition for any guy!
I love the change in your Max's name. I wonder if we all do that? Dante is usually called "gee" and Max is usually Choxie.... among other oddball doggie names we give them!
Take care,
Terri

Your dogs are pretty and happy, healthy looking. They really have a beautiful look and coats - how do you keep them so shiney? Thanks for your comments! Figure their coats are because of a couple things. They hardly ever have a bath,--Lol, does that shock you!? If you are shocked or have never seen this info on bathing before---Am going to go get a link or two that is about this (In this forum) and will paste them at bottom of this post.
I also feed a raw food diet which also includes a good amount of pulverized raw veggies(a little home-cooking too--and never ever any 'poisonous' garbage commercial dog food). And they get plenty of raw egg yolks--I usually 'cook' the whites by stirring it into the hot oatmeal or Malt-o Meal (never the chocolate flavor though!) that I sometimes feed them for the 1st meal of the day. I also supplement with Vitamin E and Omega 3 fish oil capsules (among a few other vit. and minerals.) Note that if a person gives fish oil--you need to give Vitamin E too as the fish oil can deplete the vit. E.
My boys always slept on their dog beds in the bedroom until I got divorced, then I invited them up. Now, they are used to taking up most of the bed. In the winter - that's ok! I agree about the winter part, lol--My thermastat stays on 58 degrees and the bedroom seems to be the coldest room in the house too. If I could just use them (the '2 boys') for foot warmers in the cold months I would but can't let a habit get started! As you can see by the picture of my boys (if it's up) - yeah, they truly are tough competition for any guy! And they prob. weigh between 60 and 80 lbs. according to my breeds book. Corky (Corker porker--another crazy nickname that isn't true--not fat!)-the cocker/golden doesn't weigh near that much--40 lbs.--between a cocker size and a golden. He is about an inch or so taller than a cocker and is a little longer than a cocker--But he does love to eat and would prob. keep eating if I left more food for him--Actually kind of curious to see if he would ever stop when he got full--Lol, not going to check that out though!
I love the change in your Max's name. I wonder if we all do that? Dante is usually called "gee" and Max is usually Choxie.... among other oddball doggie names we give them!Had to laugh when I read this part as I have the same 'take' on this as you do--Left comments in this forum on the same order before.
Take care,
Terri

Going to post this now but will be back shortly with the links I mentioned above and a couple other links that you might find interesting from this forum.
So I will add them to this post ---If you read this post before I get the links added --just make sure to check this same post again. I am just being 'safe' here--Don't want to lose this post somehow by accident! Be back!
itchy cocker A tip that Yogi gave in a post--Use baby wipes in between bathing if need to clean dog a little.
