Hello To All Dog Lovers
Hi everyone. I'm glad to join this forum to mingle with people who love dogs. I have been in love with dogs since I was a little toddler. I can still remember how I squeeze the puppies because they are so cuddly.
I hope I can learn more things that I have not known about dogs.

Welcome to the forum!
Glad to have another dog lover in this forum! Read your other post--Get impression Woolsy has been gone for quite awhile--I can understand that you still miss him! But do you have any dogs now? If so, tell us about him/her. Breed, age, name, funny stories--Any pics to share?--Or any interesting/funny tales to tell about your dog(s), including Woolsy?
I have a cocker/golden retriever mix named Corky--age 11 and a pure cocker named Max (lol, 'Paxer') age 10--An April Fool's birthday. Have an album on my profile page if you'd care to see them.
Hope you enjoy this forum as much as I do. Note that it isn't too busy on the weekends. Tuesday and Wednesday seem to be the busiest. So don't be put-off if you don't get 'noticed' right away:mrgreen:

Thanks Corky/Max and Lara's mom. I appreciate the welcome and I don't mind if I don't get noticed, I can say I'm used to it.
I'm working abroad right now and taking care of a dog will hinder in my line of work. I love dogs that I don't want to give a little bit of my time to take care of them. I also don't want them to be in cages if ever I will go to work.
I have a plan though to get a Shitzu by summer as a gift for my fiance. We went to dog shop one time and her eyes glimmered when she saw the puppies. So I will buy her a puppy that is small enough for her to take care. I think Shitzu is perfect.

Hi Woolsy
Welcome to the forums. I'm a newbie as well, just joined over a week ago. Don't take this the wrong way but you are misspelling Shitzu. The correct spelling is Shih Tzu. I'm just letting you know this because you stated that you are thinking about getting one.

I also don't want them to be in cages if ever I will go to work. I see you must think about these "CAGES' the same way I do because everyone else calls them CRATES and to me they are just a nicer (a little nicer) way of saying what they really are-CAGES! And you must be a dog lover to not get one that would end up being caged right now! Good for you!

Before you get this Shih Tzu, I hope you do some background checking as in my Breeds Book it states that they are prone to INHERITED kidney problems. Unquote: Beware of backyard breeders!! And if you do get one--make sure and let your fiance know that this breed may suffer breathing difficulties in hot weather. (also from my book) And also book: Don't overfeed as this breed will quickly become fat. The prominent eyes are prone to injury and tend to get dry from exposure, causing them to ulcerate. Subject to ear infections. Lol, not trying to 'bring you down'--Just want you to be aware of things and know what to look out for and try to prevent things from happening! Want that puppy to stay as healthy as it can--I love dogs too! Note that even the things that I mentioned are not as many problems as a lot of other breeds may have. Let us know when you get this gift and how your fiance loves it and hey, stick around--summer is still a long ways off--Love to hear from you before then!

Can I call you mrgreen then?
About the crates, I don't use that word because that is used for vegetables and fruits. :-D I use proper terms and no matter how others would look at the thing that imprisons the dog, it will always be a cage for me.
Thanks a lot for telling the information about the Shih Tzu. I even don't know exactly the name of this breed because I wrote Shitzu. No wonder why the dog of my coworker, a Shih Tzu, becomes tired so easily. I can hear some faint whistles from its breathing when the dog is tired.
I have taken of all that you said and I will make sure that I will get a pure bred Shih Tzu.

MAke sure you talk to your SO and make sure she really wants a dog. Looking at them and actually wanting to take care of one are two different things. Make sure you and your SO make this decision together because this dog will be lving with you both together so that means you'll have to take care of the dog too.

Hello and welcome! Glad to have you! If you love dogs a lot but can't care for one at the current moment have you ever considered volunteering at a local animals shelter on the weekends or something?

This forum would have been so helpful to me back when I got Gracie. Oh the mistakes that I made! First of all, my husband gave me a check one day after we moved into our new fixer-upper house and told me to go get the puppy that I had always wanted. I picked out a white one to match the white wall to wall carpeting that had just been installed in our home. That was my mentality back then. Huh! I didn't give any thought to the yellow puddles and brown piles that would so not-go with that carpet LOL. For one year ... exactly one year... I experienced more learning about dogs than I ever thought I would. Gracie's impact on our family inspired me to write a memoir that took me three years to write and I'm hoping to get it published this year.
Welcome to the forum and enjoy it's warm, friendly and helpful fellow dog-lovers!

I agree with you 100%! I have been apart of other forums in the past and my overall experience has been negative. There were many disrespectful people who you not befriend you unless you shared their opinions. Other forums I've been on also seem very "clicky". In my opinion, the is def. the best dog forum I've been on and everyone is very kind, respectful, welcoming, and helpful.
