new dog here.
Great site.
I'm Alexis. My husband and I have 4 GSDs(German Shepherd Dog). We have Nitro,Hemmi,Russo and Artex. We are heavy into SchH. Artex is the last one to get his title. He is soon to get his SchH III. Nitro is my husbands partner on the Canine Unit.
When we get time, we also foster. We are very pro spay/neuter. We think breeding should be done by ethical breeders who do health/genetic testing and title dogs. We have done all the training with our dogs.
Hope my knowledge comes in handy on here.

Hi there. I'm relatively new here myself. Lots of interesting discussions and different dogs to learn about - in the States there seem to be all sorts of breeds I have never heard of in the UK!
I too am pro spay/neuter non breeding.
I've read your posts and am interested in the principles of ethical breeding. I firmly believe that only the best a breed should be mated and that those breeding - the owner of the stud and the dam - should be willing to take a lifelong responsibility for any pups produced.

Hello and welcome to the forum! How nice to have a Canine Officer among us! I've always been so impressed with with the training and good will of the "four footed brothers/sisters in blue."

Hello and welcome to the forum! Glad to have you! Do you have any long haired German Shepherds? My dog Lucky used to be best friends with a long haired shepherd name Bear at the dog park.

Thank you for the warm welcome.
No Todd, my boys are short haired.
Lara's mom, it's my hubby who is on the Canine Unit. But I too work around them.
Thanks for the link Corky/Max. But this is not a new breed for me. I have owned and worked with them for many years. And they have been in my family for many many years. I can honestly say that there is nothing I don't know about them. They are my top breed.
cigwyllt, as for ethical breeders, well they do all health/genetic testing before breeding is done. They also title their dogs. They also have contracts. Either a spay/neuter(pet/companion) and non breeding. This is if you decide that you may want to title your dog then breed. Well only the breeder can remove this contract. But only if all health/genetic testing has been done and titles are done. They will always be there for you. And they will take the pup/dog back if you can no longer keep.
My breeder is excellent. All dogs are titled in SchH and he travels to Germany for the Seiger shows. Many of his dogs become members of the Police Forces. My boys were on a neuter contract. They were done at 6 months. And no that is not early for this breed.
It just saddens me to see so many dogs in shelters and rescues, yet people are breeding just to breed. That includes "mutts" or as some people call them "designer" breeds.

Wow! Four german sheppards, that must be a handful although I'm sure they are very well trained considering their titles! Did you say all four of them work with your husband in the force? That is amazing, congratulations!

Well lets just say you know they are around when they all get into horseplay. They are VERY well trained. And that helps. We have worked very hard with them. And I think that's why they did so well in SchH.
Only Nitro works with my hubby. They only work with one dog.

Nitro already had that name. Hubby named Hemmi, my daughter named Russo and I named Artex. I had a dream about a horse named Artex. I know, silly.

Hello. I am very (very) new to this site but I think I will love visiting here. I am also pro spay/neuter. In fact there are several times when I think about sneaking around at night and getting some of the neighborhood dogs and having them spayed or neutered. I am teasing, of course I would never do that but I am thinking of going to one of my neighbors and offering to pay for some of their dogs to be spayed or neutered.

Welcome to the site! I definitely agree, spaying/neutering is very important for dogs and it's great you're thinking about helping people out paying for it. There's also shelters and such (well respected and safe) that provide a low cost spay/neuter for those with not as much money to spare. Depending on your location, you could do some research on your area and offer that to your neighbors as well!
