Hi from London!
Hello everyone from London. I just thought about joining a dog lover forum as I've always loved dogs and have an awesome Border Collie (Cassie) who is a great companion to my 4 year old mildly Autistic twins, my 17 year old, my wonderful husband who I am buying a Bulldog for (I hope) on Friday as an early Father's Day gift. I love my Cassie; she was a rescue and is now in supreme health. I hope to be able to get some advice and have some common ground with others about how strongly I feel about love towards animals..........sure been sharing my opinions around our home, lol!

Hi and welcome. Good to have a fellow Brit around - although I'm a fair way away from you in the bottom left hand corner of West Wales. My father and my husband are both Londoners.
I hope all goes well on Friday and you are able to get the pup for your husband. Wish mine would want a pup of his own LOL!
Collies are very sensitive aren't they - yours must be a great companion for your twins.

Hey!.....Sorry I should have said London, ONTARIO. Although I don't live in Europe, if I had a choice once my husband and I are older we'd love to move ourselves and our dogs to either Scotland or Ireland; we're both actually French/Celts and the thought of being able to run or cycle with our dog beside us along a shoreline would be a piece of heaven. Well......I could do that with my Collie, not so much with a bulldog I think, I think their energy stores are a lot less. And yes my Cassie is extremely sensitive, crazy girl to keep up with how everyone in the house is doing; I can see her coddling this new bulldog puppy as her own also, lol. She does a LOT of good with our twins.

And I should have read the info beneath your name instead of jumping on the first thing I recognised LOL :-D
Apart from that everything else still stands - welcome!

Hello and welcome to the forum! Sounds like Cassie is a great dog, and I look forward to hearing more about the bulldog! I've always wanted one of those. They are so cute. And yes I think a collie would be great running or cycling along with you in Europe. That does sound like heaven! I'd love to do the same with my dogs.

 WHY is this week going by so slowly?!?! I feel like a new baby is coming. Doesn't help that my husband has a pic of Rupert on his desktop to remind me of how CUTE he is and how happy I am to do this for my husband. *tick tick tick* It's only Tuesday...............

Lol, probably nothing to do with the name you chose--Rupert but have to ask anyway---Did you get the idea for that name from the reality show-(the) Survivor? It is the only other time I have heard that name.

Nope, that's his name that he already has. I've asked my husband if he wants to change Rupert's name, not sure yet.........we have to meet him first and have everyone make nice but if anyone's got any STRONG man name suggestions; feel free to make some suggestions! He's only 9 months old with enough time to relearn a name. Cassie was 3 years and she LOOKS like a Cassie anyway!

Hmm, I'll have to think about that one! I've only had girl dogs all my life, so I've never had to come up with a strong male name. I'll try to think some up and get back to you

mmmmm. Storng man name suggestions...
Hannibal
Spike
Orion - This means son of fire/light
Here are some "tough" dog names that may be manly I found online...
Some Mean Dog Names Suggestions To Consider Are...
Diamondback: In reference to the Diamondback rattlesnake, this is an excellent choice for a name intended to show a dog’s silent, but powerful, strength.
Fang: The eye teeth of canines are called fangs and are the teeth used to give the deepest, tearing bites. This name reflects that you dog knows how to use those teeth well.
Force: This word reflects the actions an intruder can expect from your companion if it feels threatened in any way.
Judge: For a guard dog, this is a well suited name showing that your pet really is the judge of who is considered friend or enemy in your home.
Klingon: Star Trek fans know that this species of alien humanoid which are known for their less than peaceful natures.
Shiv: This is a term for a type of knife, usually short and easily hidden but deadly and reflects perfectly a protective canine.
Vicious: This term describes the personality you want others to see in your canine. It refers to violent, threatening actions.
Viper: This is another word for "snake" and snake bites can be as deadly as those from a protective guard dog.
Xena: This is the name of a fantasy lady princess warrior and would be perfect for a large female guard pet.

One of my favorite quotes from a movie I like was 'London England, London Ontario makes no difference, London is London.'
And both have the Thames running thru it.

I sure hope the Thames in the UK is cleaner than the one here in Ontario, blech. There was a time when you could eat the fish out of our rivers and streams; used to love fishing! I even live on a street with the suffix "shire" in it,lol.
sigh......still one more day until we meet our new hopeful bulldog. My husband is leaning towards the name Samson for him. I'll update in a new post about our new arrival; in hopes that he is loved by our girls and Cassie.

We are horrible to our most important resourse!!
I am drawing a blank when it comes to names other then honest ones like, Mr Stuborn or Einstien OK maybe not totally honest. Another quote this time about your new breed. "Bulldogs are the ideal breed for someone that works all day because it takes them 8 hours to realise no one is home"....lol

I like the name Samson! All the other name suggested were a little too macho cliche for me. But that's just me, the owner of only female dogs! Samson seems like a good strong name, but still cute How much longer till you get him? I'm excited to see a picture. and I hope Cassie likes him!
