Default Hey-o!

Hey, everyone!

I'm Universal from Ireland (which might make me somewhat un-universal). I own two dogs - Bubbly, a purebred Golden Retriever, and Sally, a mixed breed, but still very adorable.

I'm really bad at writing these things, so I'll stop here. But I'm really looking forward to joining in with this forum

Hi! Glad to have you here! Aren't Goldens great dogs--I have a cocker spaniel/golden retriever mix named Corky--will be 12 next Sunday (June 13). Sad thing is that I am going to lose him soon as he has Dilated Cardiomyopathy (enlarged heart and in heart failure). Have also a purebred cocker named Max (Paxy--lol) who is 11 yrs old (last April Fool's Day).
Never heard of a dog called Bubbly--kind of unique and different--I like it.
How old is Sally and do you know what mix of breeds she is?
Have any pics to share of your 2? Can see my 2 on my profile page in my album. Most of the pics are from earlier times though.

Yes, Do join in with us---Bet you have a few 'tails' to tell about your 2 dogs!

Aw! Your dogs are so cute!
I can't post pictures of my two yet since I don't have enough posts yet, but soon hopefully I'll be able to show them off

I'm so sorry about Corky. That really is terrible about his illness. I really am so sorry. It's so heart-wrenching to see your beloved dog get sick isn't?

I bet your dog Max is areal joker if he was born on April Fool's Day :P

Cocker Spaniels and Goldens are brilliant dogs. I never had a purebred spaniel myself, but a friend does, and those two are adorable. My Sally is half spanial as her dam was a purebred spanial, but to answer your question about her mixed breed: it's a mystery. While we know Sally's dam for sure (her dam was an old spanial called Sandy), her father remains unknown. For all we know, one night Sandy just suddenly gave birth to pups, surprising us all. But we know for sure Sally isn't purebred, as she doesn't have all the spanial characteristics.

And thanks for complimenting Bubbly's name, some people have laughed at it. It's nice to know other people like it (I'm sure Bubbly appreciates the compliment too) :P

I left you a link to a thread that will explain how to post pictures now! It is at bottom of this post.

I'm so sorry about Corky. That really is terrible about his illness. I really am so sorry. It's so heart-wrenching to see your beloved dog get sick isn't? Yes it is but there isn't much I can do so I have to accept it. Thanks for your concerns.

I bet your dog Max is areal joker if he was born on April Fool's Day :P Lol, wish he was a little like that--He is a little 'uptight' at times.

And thanks for complimenting Bubbly's name, some people have laughed at it. It's nice to know other people like it (I'm sure Bubbly appreciates the compliment too) :P Is there a story behind why you used that name? I like it because it would be a good name for a dog that is bubbly!---very descriptive.

Kind of a coincident wouldn't you say---I have the pure cocker and the cocker/golden mix and you have a cocker mix and a pure golden. Of course I love these 2 breeds. Talk to you later.

Thanks for the welcome! I was going to buy a lab once, they are really lovely dogs. But I think goldens and labs are pretty closely related.

Thank you so much for the link to post pictures of Bubbly and Sally - now I can show them off!

Oh, I think I will post Sally's picture. Maybe now Sally can finally track down her father It could be the start of a new father-daughter relationship.

Similar to your dog Max, Bubbly isn't very, eh, bubbly. He was when he was a puppy, but now that he is 9-years I think he's too sleepy to be bubbly and playful. He still loves a lot of attention though.

And that is ironic how are dog's are so similar! Just slightly different

And finally Bubbly and Sally in the attachments! I hope I did the images right. But Bubbly is the golden, and Sally (or Sal) is the black and white dog.

Love your Golden! Was very surprised at what Sally looks like--I would never have even guessed Cocker as part of the mix if you hadn't told me! My parents use to have a dog a long time ago that looked a lot like her face.
They also had Minature Schnauzers quite a bit but they had one dog that really reminded me of your dog's face. I just called my mother to find out what breed it was but she didn't know--only that it was a mixed breed that they had gotten from friends whose dog had pups and did not know the father, and lol, my mother couldn't remember the mother dog either--long time ago and my mother is 90 yrs. old too.

But I am thinking your dog could be part some kind of terrier (and the Schnauzer is a terrier) --mainly Norfolk Terrier or Cairn Terrier. Here are links to both of these breeds:
Cairn Pictures, Cairn Pics, 2--see esp. the 3rd pic.

Norfolk Terrier Information and Pictures, Norfolk Pictures and Photos --see esp. the 3rd pic here too.

And here is a link to the Min. Schnauzer:
Miniature Schnauzer Information and Pictures, Miniature Schnauzers

There are a lot of dif. kinds of terriers. You can look up more from any of the 3 links I gave above--Just go back to Home Page and click on All Breeds-alphabetical list of all breeds to click on. To check out the terrier family--May have to look at the 2nd word given for each breed to find a terrier. This is a great site! Enjoy!

Do you have a full side view of Sally and esp. one of her standing? Like to see her tail too. Do you know how much she weighs and her height from top of shoulder down?

They are lovely dogs. We used to have a Golden - the perfect family dog. Sally definitely looks like a terrier. Could we see some more photos of her. She looks quite stocky in that photo but that could just be the way she is sitting. I would have said she was a Jack Russell cross collie. Shows how easy it is to get it wrong LOL!

Yes, Sally is very odd. If I hadn't seen her resting beside her mother when she was a puppy, I would have never guessed she was half spanial. But if I'm remembering correctly, her litter-mates resembled the mother more so. The only characteristic Sally has of her mother is the black patches - except her mother's were brown.

But I should say: I found out Sally's mother wasn't a cocker spaniel, but a springer spaniel. Sorry for that mistake. My dad just told me. I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

But those dogs do have a strong similarity to Sally - especially in the face. And the Norfolk terrier has patches of black in their fur, like Sally, sometimes. And the Miniature Schnauzer can be completely black. So I would they might be stronger contenders for being Sally's father.

Sadly, I don't have a full body picture of Sally. She likes moving around a lot so it's hard to get a picture that isn't blurred. Even getting that picture of her upper body took a while. But I will try sometime today and post it if I get it. I'm not sure of Sally's weight and height precisely. But she is a small dog. And she has a rather smaller head for her body size - though she doesn't eat that much. Bubbly eats far more than her. And her tail isn't very furry, and it isn't that big either, but it is in proportion to her body size. I hope that description may help while I try to get that picture!

Hmm... it's interesting that you said Jack Russel, because I definitely remember a Jack Russel hanging around the place where Sally was born. But I'm not sure if the Russel was male or female.

And I agree that Goldens are lovely dogs!
