Hi from the pack!
Hi all! I'm Alexis, mom to 2 skin kids (8 and 10) and 8 fur kids.
Carol, a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. She's stubborn, goofy, loves to bark, and generally drives me insane. She's also made me fall 100% in love with Swissies and I will never ever be without one. For all the craziness she is completely devoted to me and I can't imagine how I got along with out her. She's 14 months now and a 100lb snuggler.
Sally the Leonberger. Sally is my good girl, she's obedient, loves everyone, and makes my life simple. She'll be going for her CGC and TDI this September and I have no doubt in my mind she'll pass with flying colors. This girl was born to be a therapy dog and as much as I'll never be without a Swissy I also won't ever be without a Leo again.
Kira is the newest "foster" a 12.5yr old standard poodle who recently lost her owner and had nowhere to go. Foster is in quotes because I don't expect her to be adopted and I figure she'll live the rest of her life with us. We've had her for 3 weeks now and she is 100% wonderful.
Then we have Charlie. He's my first kitty and a total love. Every night he comes into bed to get his snuggles before he goes back to doing whatever it is that cats do all night (all I know is that it usually involves knocking something over)
And Lola... I affectionately call Lola my traitor. She's sweet as pie and loves her belly rubbed but she's really my husband's cat. That's despite the fact that he wasn't exactly thrilled when we took her in and I had to fight for her to stay. Now he loves her as much as she loves him.
We also have a bottle fed foster kitty staying with us. We will NOT keep her, even if she is totally sweet and a tortiseshell like Lola. Nope, not gonna do it. In the interest of full disclosure her name is Hammie because she was so tiny when we took her in that the kids thought she looked like a hamster.
At the farm there is...
M.T. he's my old man horsey. He's 22 this year and I've had him since he was 3. I love this guy so much and he's worrying the heck out of me. He just broke his long pastern bone and will be very touch and go for the next two months while it heals. I don't know what I'll do if I lose this guy.
My current riding horse is Decaf. I bought her as a barely touched two year old and she's turning into exactly the horse I want her to become (she's 6 this year). She's been a blast to ride since the first time and with luck she'll be around for a very long time. She's a BIG girl at 17.2h (about 5'8" at the shoulder) but hasn't hit her sire's hit yet of 18.2h (about 6'2"). The breeder though she would make at 16.2h, HA!
Last but not least is Blackberry, aka Captain Carrot who is my daughter's pony. He's an absolute blast. The safest thing ever with a kid on his back and a spitfire if you know what you are doing. He's a medium size pony but luckily I don't weigh much so I can ride him easily and help train him for my daughter.
It's great to find this board and meet you all!
