My Name Is Smith
Hello,
My name is Josh Smith. I live in rural Indiana and enjoy guns, hunting, dogs, fishing and pretty much anything outdoors.
I grew up with dogs. They have literally saved my life, starting with the blizzard of 1978: I was just a newborn, only a couple months old, living in the country when the snow started falling and the power went out. No heat.
My parents got into their camping supplies and were able to provide light and hot food, but nothing further.
I was tucked in with our two dogs, Jody and Gypsy. They kept me warm until the snow stopped falling and our Amish neighbors came in their sleigh and took us to their place for the duration.
Since that time, I've always had a dog, usually several, and have learned how they work and think - heck, I think like them half the time, I'm sure.
I've never met a dog that I didn't like or that didn't like me. I can always have a good conversation with them.
Still, I never consider myself an expert or anything of that sort. It's just something I can do - some people can speak Latin, while I speak dog.
Dogs have a lot to teach us, and I'm always learning from them. If I listen, I'll learn.
Josh
