what kind of dog is this?
We ended up with this dog and we're trying to find out exactly what breed it is or if it's a mix breed.
Oh I guess I can't post pics. sorry, have a good day!

Actually, if you read the forum rules it will give you directions on how to post a pic. It is easy and you do not need to have 50 posts.

Yes - but I've no idea what he is. Love the brindle coat.

Welcome to the forum!
Guessing some Boxer there with maybe some American Staffordshire Terrier or pit Bull. Does he like to 'box' with his front feet? What is your dog's name? Does he have a long tail or has it been docked?

He doesn't "box" but he loves digging. He loves to dig in his blankets when we hide his toys in them. My dog's name is benson. He has a stiff tail that's like a weapon when he gets excited! He also loves water. He will stay in the water for hours and hours.

I think it looks like he's got some mastif in there or staffie, but he's bigger that staffie or pit it seems and the fact that he loves water says he might have lab in there, could be a lab and some sort of mastif, also the slight brindle in the coat and the jowls and muscular body also suggest mastif, or again, staffie. I don't really see boxer in there personally but could be who knows!... He's a hansom boy though. ;o)

My daughter has a Boxer/American Staffordshire Terrier or Pit Bull mix and your dog has a similar look. Was going to bring a pic or two of her dog to show but, darn, I can't seem to get them to transfer here! I don't know what a Boxer's tail would look like if left on/ not docked. The tail does kind of sound like a Lab's type tail--My breeds book describes it--"described as an 'otter' tail, is thick at the base, round and tapered."
A couple of links for pics of similar looking dogs: Boxador, Boxadors, Boxer Lab Hybrid---this is a boxer/lab mix (2 more pages of pics---click on at bottom of the page) This is for the Boxer--note there are 12 pages of pics! Boxer Information and Pictures, Boxers
http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/americanstaffordshire.htm A couple more pages of pics listed at bottom of page.

Your right Corky he does look like he could be boxer/lab mix. Very similar ears, and boxers can be brindle also. I was thinking the nose would be shorter, but not necessarily. My uncle has a boxer and her nose is very pushed in compared to a lot of those pix.
Too bad no pix of your daughters.
Here is a pic of my uncles two, just for fun... they both look evil in these pix lol

Hey Taming Rover!
I knew I could go find this thread and get a link to one of the pics of my daughter's boxer mix but thought it was a round about way of doing it but if you want to see it--click on this link: Hercules is here!
Go to the 10th post and there is a link to the pic in that post. I found you can't just try to copy a link from a post in here--You have to bring up a link to the whole thread. Mia (my daughter's mix) doesn't have the pushed-in face so much either. Use to have a pure boxer a long time ago that did have the pushed-in face.

Lol, in looking at the pic of Mia--I see she does have the whole tail intact but is it a true Boxer tail or could it be the tail of the other mix--the American Staffordshire Terrier (or Pit Bull)!?

You made me think of something I just found out a few days ago---A member in here that I have been emailing back and forth with for quite a while in here just happened to mention her dog's birthday and it turns out that my Max was born on the very same day and same month and same year! Lol, no same name or breed though.

Neat! It's always fun to find out things like that! My pup was born on November 3. I wish I knew my older dog's birthday but I'm pretty sure it's sometime in the beginning of June.
Her tail looks from what I can see to be as I would think a boxer or staffie tail would look, I imagine they would look very similar.

I don't know the birthday of my recently rescued dog either (Sami)--Wish I did and all other background too! You know, I had mentioned to the Administrator of this forum about having a section in here where everyone could list their dog's birthday and also have it 'brought up' on each dog's birthday--sort of like what is done for the human's birthday in here--It would be fun to find out all the same birthdays! I can't remember what his reply was. I think he may of misunderstood me for one thing. Hey, I think I am right now, going to start a thread on the listing of dog birthdays.

My guess is American Staffordshire Terrier, crossed with a Mastiff (or Rottweiler) of some type, to give him the dropped ears and slightly longer snout. The dilute brindle is gorgeous! I think, in order for him to be a dilute brindle, both his parents have to carry the gene for the dilute... so not sure what he might have in him other than the Amstaff... which is often bred to be a dilute colour (blue, blue brindle... etc.)I believe your boy is a dilute red (the light coloured nose gives it away... but I'm not an expert on that breed... I know Dachshund colour genetics... I dunno if Amstaffs work the same) Alot of Mastiffs come in Brindles... I dunno if they carry dilutes though.
