Default Canada meets Bali dogs :)

Hey everyone ...

I am the proud owner of my beautiful 11 year old golden retriever. She is my best friend and has truly shown me the meaning of unconditional love.

I am also an advocate for the Bali Street Dogs. I am working hours to bring awareness and to put together donations and supplies for this worthy cause. I support B.A.R.C Bali Animal Rehabilitation Center. The most amazing group of people working and putting forth their efforts to rehabilitate, shelter and find homes for these poor dogs. It is heartbreaking and I'm so glad to be doing what I can. Feel free to have a look at their site but please know that it's likely to bring tears ... sad and happy ones.

The puppy in my profile picture and second picture attachment is Suci (sacred)... a little pup that along with her two sisters were found in a dump in Bali by a dear friend of mine. She was very malnourished, had skin infections and worms. I am happy to report that she is doing wonderful now and hopefully will come to Canada someday to be part of our family. The big old happy dog in the the attached photo is our Kyda ... kind, loving and smiles at us just to make us smile I'm sure.

I love our puppy pals and I can't wait to share stories.

Cheers and thanks for having me.

Smile Welcome to the forum!

I love Goldens too and I agree they are great dogs. I had a Golden/Cocker mix that I had to put to sleep this past June and I still miss him. I believe he (Corky) directed me to the rescue dog (Sami) I just adopted about 2 months ago which I believe her to be the same mix of breeds. She is roughly 10 yrs. old but acts like a 2-5 yr. old---always wanting you to throw a ball. She is very loving--likes to burrow her head in your chest and wants to kiss you all the time.

Hope you get Suci soon. Let us know when you do and tell all about her! Love to hear more stories on Kyda too.

Thanks for rescuing and helping needy dogs.

Default Thanks for the welcome :)

Aw ... so sorry to hear that you lost your dog Corky. I believe that no best friend like a dog can be replaced, but they sure can impact our lives while they are here enough to teach us to love again.

I am glad that you and Sami found each other ... so often the older dogs are forgotten, so it is always wonderful to hear of the adoption of one.

As for my Kyda bear ... she has always been an old soul from the moment I got her as the runt of a litter. I remember people saying they thought she must be sick because she was so mellow for a pup ... she wasn't, it was just her nature to 'take it easy'

I will absolutely be sharing stories of Suci WHEN she comes here to Canada. I can't wait for Kyda to be her teacher. She will learn so much from my ol' gal. Bali dogs are such an incredible breed with such a will to survive in the most horrific of situations at times. Maybe one day they will be recognized and pedigreed ... but for now, I'm happy just being able to help them and to bring Suci home to show her how dogs should be treated ... as a part of a family.
